Yeah, ok, I know this stuff is for shallow emo teenagers, but heck, its so talked about, and I have my own sister who has read the entire series, and is really really into it, and she's dragged me to both movies already, so I figured what the heck, I might as well find out what she's been reading.
So I bought "Twilight" book and started reading it on a long flight I just took. I'm only on chapter 6 right now, out of 20 something chapters in the book. So far, I have to say the first few chapters were kinda hard for me to read, being a 30 year old male maybe, but this girl Bella is really really emo or something. She is incredibly depressed, incredibly sad, hates everything, hates where she is living, just seems so depressing to read, like slit your wrists depressed.
I think some of this is going away now that she has met Edward now though, she seems to be opening up and becoming a bit less depressed.
Maybe it is these emotions of Bella that are appealing to teenagers these days, maybe the teens of today feel this same way, and thus this appeals to them and draws them in.
At any rate, it is starting to get better now, and I'm actually quite liking the book, it isn't as bad as I thought, even though I'm only on chapter 6. I think by the end of it I may find that I actually really do enjoy it. I'm also going to continue and buy the other books as well and read through the entire series, I mean why not, at least I'll be knowledgeable about it when I relate my own opinions about the series.
Anyway, I'll update this thread as I work my way through the book more and come up with more opinions.
