Well, I guess this is no surprise; but the 3-disc blu-ray edition is #1 at Amazon currently, with the single-disk DVD at #2. That's in all of "Movies and TV."

Just saw this article discussing Paramount's success in 2009, and they mention something about Star Trek 2.

As for J. J. Abrams, a producer and the director of “Star Trek,” Mr. Grey is looking for “Star Trek 2.” And “Mission: Impossible IV.” And possibly before either, what he called another “tentpole” film to be directed by Mr. Abrams, and yet to be announced.

I'm interested in what this other film might be. Maybe it's the TMNT relaunch.

Too bad Trek XII isn't further along in development. Now that Spider-man 4 is on hold due to script issues, it looks like they might not meet the release date and May 5, 2011 could be open.

Looks like Paramount is moving Thor from May 20, 2011 to the first weekend of May, now vacated by Spider-m4n.

They could do early June since the only things set are Kung Fun Panda 2 (6/3) and The Green Lantern (6/17).

And btw, Thor's original release date (5/20/11) has now been filled with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Some news: according to Box Office Mojo, Star Trek XII is scheduled for release on June 29 2012. Nice to hear something concrete, although I wish we didn't have to wait so long.

As far as I can tell, the other studios have yet to schedule any films for the same release date, so we don't yet know what kind of competition Trek XII will be facing.

I liked it when a new trek movie would come out in November. Say around the Thanksgiving weekend for all the yanks in the crowd. Out of the blur that is the summer movie season. Something about that time of year that is best for science fiction and a little bit of pre Christmas present.

Actually, you know where you'll be the evening of, or midnight of, June 28, 2012.

This is actually a really good weekend since it leads right into the 4th of July which is mid-week. So Trek XII will likely have very good midweek numbers so it's first-week total will be spectacular.

If they're shooting for a summer 2012 release date I imagine the final shooting script will be ready by Christmas of this year and filming will commence no later than the early or late spring of 2011. With current CGI and how long it can take to assemble hundreds or even thousands of effects shots for a massive-budget space epic like a TREK movie I imagine principal photography will be over by the fall of 2011 at the latest so the post-production teams can being work right away.

Sony is setting the Spider-man reboot (no Sam Raimi, all new cast) in for Summer 2012. No specific release date yet.

Didn't think a studio could eff-up a franchise worse than what Fox did with the X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc., but I guess I was wrong.

Maybe the next Spidey film will have vampire king Mobius as the villain, in a flashy, yet gritty, teenage angst movie.

Yuck.
