SUpernatural: The Movie - What are the chances?

Just finished catching up to everyone else to the mid season 5 cliffhanger.

Awesome show.

Then I saw this fan made trailer (SPOILER!!!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uREmmrM52Jg&feature=related

It made me realize what great material this would be for a big epic bad-ass movie. A grand final story that would be too much for a TV Budget.

I don't think it would be a problem to make it accessible to a wider audience and market it as a great fantasy-end-of-the-world action blockbuster.

Sam and Dean as characters are practically made for the big screen.

What do you think?

End the show on a major cliffhanger and resolve in a theatre near you?

it would definitely be bad ass, but i dont see it happening. I don't think Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have a big enough name or clout in order for any studio execs to grant a Supernatural theatrical movie. Televised movie yes, theatrical no. Both of those guys were in slasher movies (remakes mind you) last year or actually earlier this year and well yeah. As talented as they are and as epic as a story Kripke could make a 2 hour flick with, it still wont happen. That's the breaks kid. =T

I would never dare.

No keep both actors.

If studios need a big star name, just cast one as the villain.

The boys can take it from tehere don't you think? ;-)

Hugh Jackman would play their father... who keeps taking off his shirt... and his death will be faked so he can come back in the final act as the main villain. :p

It would never happen, but a Supernatural film with Ackles and Padalecki (no damn recasting!), a real movie budget, and a hard R rating (think of all the awesome blood and gore!) would be insanely awesome.

I don't think the show is big enough domestically to warrant such an undertaking, sadly. Well, that, and the writers already have their story ready to be wrapped up at the end of this season. Now, maybe if Supernatural had been canceled after seasons three or four we could have had a Serenity situation (unlikely), but with the story set to end here in S5 I don't see a movie happening.

And while the idea is interesting, and horror films are far, far cheaper then what a Smallville film would be (Shudder). But teh shows deepest material would have already been done of the show. That just leaves them with "monster of the Week" horror, and while that is fine and good, you typically want a film to be more powerful then your tv work, and I just can't see a monster of the week hitting harder then some of the mythology episodes have hit both of the characters.

Sean William Scott?

Blasphemer.

I, too, am of the opinion that an SPN movie is unlikely. You can't recast Sam and Dean. The show morphed away from monster of the week precisely because TPTB realized what they had in the two leads. Kripke's admitted it in Q&A's.

I have trouble imagining a Supernatural movie (except perhaps the direct-to-tv variety meant specifically for the fans).

*Hugs Snaploud back* That's an excellent idea. :) First I'll have to clean up the dog poop in the bathroom. Hannah was too scared to go out in the wind. What a smell. Fun times. At least she peed outside before the worst of it started.
