Has Anyone Else's Interest Disappeared?

I think that SG:U would've been better served if they had ditched practically everyone associated with the last few shows and gone out seeking new blood for the writing staff, possibly rookie screenwriters and a couple seasoned vets to show them the ropes. Hell, I'm pretty sure they could've snagged at least some of BSG's writing staff (Mark Verheiden, David Weddle, and Bradley Thompson in particular) and given us a more interesting show.

Weddle and Thompson work on CSI now and are exec. producers of that series as well and Verheiden is on Heroes as a consulting producer and writer. I think the writing staff is just fine as long as Cooper and Wright are in charge of the show.

It's good to see that they've got gainful employment. But still, getting fresh faces is a good way to maintain creativity and challenges the other writers to come up with better stuff.

Thats what i find hilarious. For years some fans have complained endlessly about how formulaic SG1/A episodes had become. And now when they have finally broken from said formula, the (mostly) same fans are crying out for the endless medieval-vancouver worlds to reappear.

We wanted a change, but that doesn't mean we wanted it changed to this. A more serious and mature Stargate was and still is a great idea, unfortunately we didn't get that. We instead got Darker and Edgier and Hotter and Sexier rolled into one. It reminds me so much of Torchwood series 1. Hopefully the writers will pull off a "Children of Earth" soon.

Congratulations, SG fans, you are now just like Star Trek fans.

I quite like SGU, but things really need to start happening, NOW. Not more soap opera stuff (which I fear is coming in the next episode). Real interesting, EXCITING, dramatic storytelling. Not more talking/arguing/kino speeches/boring episodes where nothing happens for ages.

A combination of:

1. very unlikeable and bland characters in general
2. very few interesting or action packed scenes/episodes
3. dull soap opera episodes and very little humour

means this show could lose a lot of viewers before the season is over.

I appreciate that they're taking their time in showing how the crew is struggling to survive, find water, etc. In the previous shows, Carter or McKay had everything solved by episode's end. On the other hand, the series can't stay focused on such colorless storylines much longer. There needs to be a sense of fun and adventure also.

Thank you, thats whats missing....watching this show feels like work it is not fun, to me it is depressing and uninteresting at part....but i saw TIME and i saw several glimmers of hope for this show...TIME had great character moments that werent boring or soapish that i liked...the show just needs that stargate sense of 'fun' or it will loose a large chunk of the fandom....

LIFE next week does not give me hope for this turn around...Young and Telford fighting over Emily is not 'must see' tv for me...

I like that this show is taking the world of Stargate more seriously, and I those body swap stories are fine by me. The last thing I want is for SGU to turn into SG-1 or Atlantis. This show is on a fresh new path and I want to see that continue. If I want the old shows, I'll watch the old shows. There's 15 seasons worth.

i dont mind the body swaps Eli's was the best of all of them...but do it without the overly melo-dramatic stuff. If your gonna do the body swap make it interesting...

Having watched Water and the one after, I think I'm done.

This show is mundane, mundane, mundane. I think watching a YouTube instructional video on tax returns would offer more excitement than this tedious show.

How did the fantastic Stargate come to this?! Really.

I like SGU. I've missed or fallen asleep on a couple episodes, but I generally just finish them online. I don't mind the 'soap opera' stuff. To me there's nothing wrong with drama and conflict. What do we expect these people to do all day, every day? Without internal conflict, the show would really be dull.

I do think the pace of the show so far is a little slow, but I'm still intrigued by where SGU is going. I like the feel of the show and the characters are fine with me. I do wonder though when they're going to introduce external adversaries and more external conflict.

I give the writers credit for really taking the time to explore the ship and making episodes around that and how the people are going to survive.

Whatever Universe turns out to be right now for me it is more interesting to talk about then a show about our heroes with machineguns blowing away enemy hordes with bolt action laser rifles.

My interest died before the second hour of the two hour premiere. Survivalism can be gripping when not dragged out over mulitiple hours and scores of commercial breaks. Plus, the emphasis on sex lives when they shouldn't have sex because they can't take care of the children is egregiously stupid.

Well "Life" killled it for me. If I want soap-opera, I'll watch a fragging soap-opera. The writers don't seem to know what they want the show to be.

"Life" killed it for me as well. I hated Earth nearly as much, but I thought it was a one time thing. Life has proved to me that the writers are far more interested in soap opera melodrama than sci-fi drama. Unfortunately, I'm not.
