Major League Baseball 2009

Who are you laughing at, Alidar? Or were you so happy that Yankees won the game last night? Just want to know why you're laughing, that's all.

Probably because all the Yankee fans think that a WS win is all but in the bag.

I think not.

Yep. Just like the Red Sox were going to mop the Angels away. We play the games for a reason because "on paper" means shit. :)

Go Philles minus Pedro! The only good thing about a Yankees' win would be that Pedro wouldn't win. I still hate him for 2003 (I know 2004, blah blah) and then the bullshit with Mets and Red Sox deal.

Though I never figured out that gap in 95. It suddenly disappears off the turnpike, and then you run back into it again once you're in Delaware somewhere.
The original plan was for I-95 to run north through Philly (which I believe it does), then cross the Delaware and connect with the turnpike in NJ. I'm not sure whether or not NJ ever actually built their part.

Not a fan or enemy of either team, but this got some serious chuckles today -

I think it is real. I found it off of a link on CNNSI.com, that made direct reference to the Post. Of course, I have yet to see a picture of a real cover page.

Does this apply, in any way?

go read Supreme Admiral's post upthread.

He doesn't speak for all Yankee fans.

Or even, I would guess, any of them (except possibly himself).

bigdaddy: What's your beef with Pedro, specifically? What happened in '03?

Pedro was pitching against the Yankees as a Red Sox, he had a little trouble and the pitching coach or someone came out and asked if he was good. He said yes and five minutes later he blew the game and the chance of the Red Sox making it into the World Series that year.

Then in 2005, I think it was, he was going to resign with the Red Sox, or so he lead them to believe, but he was just fucking with the Sox to get more money out of the Mets.

If this is a link to Katz's Deli, there's a warning in it somewhere for you. ;)

I would have worn that with pride, you know that...

I'm sure there's a lot of places that make great cheesesteaks, but they're not called "Philly Cheesesteaks" for nothing.

Yeah, well, I can't afford to go to Philly itself, so I have to take what I can get. :)

(I do find it rather amusing that the two major cheesesteak places in Philly are right across the street from each other. How's that been working out? )

Lines around the block, usually.

They're not the best cheesesteaks (a bit overpriced), but they're a fair representation.

295 splits off of 95 and crosses into New Jersey (across the Delaware Memorial Bridge) while 95 proper continues north. The Turnpike splits off of 295. However, up north, it's really weird. In PA, it curves towards New Jersey where it suddenly gets called 295 (and links with the rest of 295, basically forming a random loop). At around this point, in spite of not being connected to 95 except in Delaware via 295 or through the PA Turnpike (276), the Jersey Turnpike because 95 for no reason. It's weird.

And let's not forget the bench clearing brawl where Pedro happened to bodyslam Don Zimmer.

Which Zimmer totally deserved after charging him.

Thank you. I don't get why no one ever points this out.

Maybe because Pedro could have, oh I dunno, just pushed Zimmer out of the way or something? There was no need to go all out like that. I mean, it's not as if Zimmer could have seriously hurt the little guy.

Zimmer is a grown man. He should have known what he was doing. He charged at Pedro, and need I remind you, he was NOT not on the mound when the fight broke out (that was Clemens, and granted Manny freaking out over that inside pitch which started the whole thing was unwarrented). Zimmer went directly at Pedro, and Pedro threw him to the ground. Its not like Pedro went out and decked him or something. Zimmer came at him. Period.

He did push him out of the way, he just happens to be a crazy old man, so he went flying and got injured. Certainly wouldn't describe it as a bodyslam.
