^How can pitchers throw a 95 mph pitch 60 from feet away with precise accuracy, then lob a short toss 5 feet over the fielder's head.

You know, the only thing I can think of after watching that play was during the season Lincecum would fire bullets to first, just on routine ground plays. It was kinda funny, but after seeing Kazmir last night, I think I understand why.

Go Phillies!

So true.

Probably because all the Yankee fans think that a WS win is all but in the bag.

I never said anything like that. I think the Phillies will give us a good fight, just like the Angels did. I never even implied that we already had the series won before it started. No one else here has, either.

The 'Liberty Series*' will definitely be exciting. Not one-sided at all (on either side).

*That's what I've been hearing people call it. Liberty BELL (Philly), and STATUE (NYC). Hence, Liberty Series. :)

I hear people calling it the Turnpike series!

The theory is the Yankees are so good (110 wins incl. playoffs and 915 runs in the reg season) they make other teams press, and therfore make more errors.

RAMA

^ That would only make sense for one of the teams.

I'm a fan of the Turnpike Series, since it's exclusively Jersey, which is the true battleground for the two teams.

When comparing Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia, you'd be wise to verify Lee's ERA and run support from his days with the Indians. That evens things out quite a bit. They are different styles of pitchers but it's a great matchup nonetheless, in part because they are the best of friends. Neither team has much of an edge with in that area at least.

If there's anyone to feel some sympathy for it's the longtime Indians fans. They have to watch a game 1 where the starting pitchers are the past two Cy Young Award winners and former Indians form the last two years. That's got to be a blistering fastball to the gut for them.

Cheesesteak Series? :D

You can get a great cheesesteak in NYC, you know. ;)

No, you can't.

I'm not following.

Amtrak goes beyond above NY and below Philly. The Jersey Turnpike is just Jersey. And Jersey sums up the series beautifully because there's the great north-south divide between those who support New York teams and those who support Philly teams (and both sides seem to hate each other). So my view is that there will be open warfare on the Turnpike. Both sets of fans will travel north and south and try to eliminate each other Mad Max style to reduce the amount of rival fans at the next game. Hence, Turnpike Series is the best name.

If this is a link to Katz's Deli, there's a warning in it somewhere for you. ;)

I would have worn that with pride, you know that...

I'm sure there's a lot of places that make great cheesesteaks, but they're not called "Philly Cheesesteaks" for nothing.

Yeah, well, I can't afford to go to Philly itself, so I have to take what I can get. :)

(I do find it rather amusing that the two major cheesesteak places in Philly are right across the street from each other. How's that been working out? )

Because the teams, while they play in NY and PA, are a stone's throw from Jersey. The Jersey Turnpike/I-95 is about the closest thing to a direct route from NYC to Philly.

Northern NJ route for NY, southern for Philly.

Though I never figured out that gap in 95. It suddenly disappears off the turnpike, and then you run back into it again once you're in Delaware somewhere.
