Rank the Odds

People sometimes say that the odd numbered movies are weaker than their even number counterparts. I generally agree with this statement. How would you rank the odd numbered films?

For me (best to worst):

1. Star Trek: Insurrection
2. Star Trek: Generations
3. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
4. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
5. Star Trek: The Motion Picture

6000000000. Star Trek XI

This odd/even thing is really the most non-sensical myth in all of Trek fandom. I don't see how anyone could ever take it seriously.

1) Star Trek IX: Insurrection. It was fun. Could have been a lot better.
2) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. I tried to hate it, but ####### it I like it. Character moments are my kryponite.
3) Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Unequaled ambition, but by God does the second half drag.
4) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. They set out and accomplished what they had to.
5) Star Trek XI. Nemesis 2.0 with Cast version 1.0.
6) Star Trek VII: Generations. Umm...yeah. Aside from the first 20 minutes, the whole damn thing was BORING. Plus, the way they treated Data finally achieving his life-long ambition was insulting to the intellegence of EVERYONE.

I also agree that the "evens are best" theory - even before Nemesis - wasn't true. Anyhoo, the "odd" rankings:

1) Star Trek III: The Search For Spock
2) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
3) Star Trek Generations
4) Star Trek: Insurrection (worse than Nemesis)
5) Star Trek The Motion Picture

1. Star Trek: Generations
2. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
3. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
4. Star Trek XI
5. Star Trek: Insurrection
6. Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Generations and TFF may switch in my esteem sometimes, and maybe XI and TSFS too.

The odd/even thing is for crap, but basically I'd rank TMP and TFF up high on the odds, and to hell with 3, 7, 9 (and probably 11 if I ever see it.)

It's pretty much dead now - because the people who like Star Trek: Nemesis more than J.J.'s Star Trek are something of a minority.

Though really, Nemesis killed the legend all on its lonesome.

I'd recommend you do. You'll either like the movie or be able to trash it, either way it's win-win.

Yep, the 'odd and even' thing is silly... but I think it was put to rest as soon as Nemesis came out, and now is definitely dead.

1. Star Trek XI
2. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
3. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
4. Star Trek: Generations

.........................................

5. Star Trek: Insurrection
6. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

1 - Star Trek (JJ Abrams')
2 - The Motion Picture
3 - The Search for Spock
4 - Insurrection
5 - Generations
6 - The Final Frontier

1. Star Trek (2009)
2. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
3. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
4. Star Trek: Generations
5. Star Trek: Insurrection
6. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Star Trek XI
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek: Generations
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Star Trek XI - Arguably as good as FC for me
Generations - Pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good.
Star Trek III - A decent follow-up to 2, but not great
Insurrection - Well...it had a cool ship battle and nice music.
Star Trek V - Didn't even have that much
Star Trek TMP - At least I didn't get drowsy watching INS and TFF.

1. The Motion Picture - it's my favourite movie. To HELL with the odds suck rule.

2. Star Trek XI - solid character piece. Weak plot.

3. Insurrection - I like it. It's pleasant.

4. Generations - Every scene is disappointing, but it's somehow watchable. And I love the scenes in the Nexus. *shrugs*

5. The Search for Spock - aside from stealing the enterprise, this movie is a waste of time. Destroying the Enterprise hurts. But it's a solid movie otherwise.

6. The Final Frontier - I feel bad putting this at the bottom as this movie has something I appreciate more than anything that all the other movies don't have (except TMP): ambition.

1. The Search for Spock
2. Insurrection
3. Generations
4. The Motion Picture

I haven't seen TFF or XI but based on other people's reactions and my preferences, I'd say TFF goes between GEN and TMP, and XI goes between TSFS and INS
