My Dirty Little Secret

Gryffindorian

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Lately, especially this week, I've been more anxious and stressed because of some personal issue I'm going through. I haven't actually discussed this with anyone close to me, but since this is an Internet board, there's no harm, I suppose.

I think there is something medically wrong or abnormal about my physiology. This happened before, and I was able to deal with it, or the problem just went away by itself. However, I believe this is a recurring issue, but I've been able to at least deal with it the best I can. When I talked to my personal physician about it in the past, he couldn't quite give me any medical explanation, saying it was totally unheard of or I was just being anxious.

Without saying too much, my biochemistry of late has been anomalous, to say the least. I don't know exactly what's going on. Maybe it's my medication or perhaps certain foods that I eat, which are not out of the ordinary. Anyway, it's very frustrating. I don't think any of my co-workers have noticed (I certainly have). The thing is, it's not persistent, but when I notice it, I totally FREAK OUT and just want to distance myself. I doubt talking about it with my doctor would accomplish anything, based on previous experience. I've been reading and researching articles on how to deal with it, from everyday commonsense knowledge to "alternative" remedies.

There ... I'm quite relieved I've gotten that off my chest. It just helps me to think in a positive way. ;)

I don't quite understand what the problem itself is. Am I being particularly dense? Is it stress, and the way your body reacts to it? What is the actual physiological condition?

Uhhh, yeah, okay. Glad you could get that off your chest even though I am not sure what you said. What do you mean your bio-chemistry is anomalous? Do you actually have some kind of test to verify this? If you having pain of anxiety or unusual symptoms you should go to a doctor and if you don't like what the doctor says you should go to another doctor.

I'm guessing this is some kind of physical reaction that is embarrassing; I'll refrain from making guesses. But if your primary care physician is not listening to you, then I think the best thing to do is find another doc who will help you out in a way that's more to your liking.

Drone, if you want suggestions or help, then you need to be a little more specific. This BBS is completely anonymous. We don't know who you are and it's unlikely that any of us know you personally.

If it is, as sojourner suggested, abnormally strong BO, then the doctor can prescribe you a strong antiperspirant that's not available over the counter. At least they can in the UK, I don't see why it should be different elsewhere. If you're talking something like flatulence then you need to take stock of the foods you're eating and do research into each ingredient to see if it likely that's causing it.

Yeah, I need to know what it is so that I can tailor my mocking accordingly.

Indeed.

In the absence of more data, my snark will be extremely limited. :(

I suggest adding plenty of salt to your diet.

In honour of Tachy, I also feel obliged to recommend Extra Strength Oil of Oregano.

Is it urinary incontinence? It's urinary incontinence isn't it! If it makes you feel better, anticholinergics can help with that.

I apologize for the confusion, but as RJD hinted, it's a rather embarrassing problem. But no, not flatulence. I guess you could say it's odor-related, and let's just leave it at that. I don't really want to discuss this in detail, as I'm not specifically seeking any medical advice (certainly not from TBBS members!). I know you're all smart and thoughtful, and I appreciate your willingness to help. ;)

This isn't something that plagues me every day of my life, but it's something I'd like to address and remedied. I have an upcoming doctor's appointment next month and will discuss this issue with him. Thanks!

then what's the point of this thread? Why create one about a "dirty little secret" that you intend to KEEP secret?

What sort of advice do you imagine could be discussed with the current info?

I'm sorry but you ain't goin out like that. You ever think that maybe one of us here has the same exact problem? Out with it now...you'll feel better and hello..it's safe here...you're on a message board and it's very private.

Without any more information.

Bathe. Daily. Sometimes twice.
Antiperspirant is your friend.
Body powder is your friend.
Foot powder is your friend.
Chewing gum is your friend when your toothbrush is too far away.
Body aroma can be based on diet. Try avoiding that curried goat.

Not trying to make light of your situation, but with what you've given us to go on, I got nuthin' else to give other than sympathy.

Okay ... but I'm afraid they're watching, or even reading this board.

Whatever it is, it's part of my secondary mutation.

if it's breath related, then the white fur/fuzz on the tongue is causing it. get a tongue cleaner and use toothpaste.
