no thread for this yet? wow

I thought this episode was silly, classic Michael fudging things up :D
I'm glad Thursday Night Funtime is back!

Hardcore parkour! :guffaw:

I thought it was ok, I just don't care for the episodes like this where Michael is overly stupid.

I thought it was medicore. I agree that Micheal was overly stupid, especially in the teaser were they were jumping around the office.

Jason

yeah I wish they would tone down the Michael Stupid, and bring back the Michael Clueless Awkward

For me every episode of the Office is about the same level of funniness with a few reaching higher. I'm never disappointed with an episode. Though Stanley cheating on his wife was a bit of a WTF moment.

I was reading the TWOP thread earlier because I couldn't find one here.

I dunno, I accept Stanley as a cheater. His current wife isn't his first, at least. The out-of-character moment for me is him actually opening up to Michael about it.

"Pam! That's what the inside of your vagina looks like!"

I thought it was pretty funny. Especially when Dwight, Andy and Michael were recreating that sport done in Casino Royale.

Gave it an excellent. Really enjoyed the opening and the ending with Stanley destroying Michael's car.

While the episode had it's moments, I think it was very run-of-the-mill. Even though I am not much of a Creed fan the way other people online are, I do think he had the best line of the episode with his scuba comments. The parkour thing was kinda stupid, but the payoff with Andy jumping into the box was pretty good.

I also am one who doesn't like it when they make Michael too over-the-top. I much prefer it when he acts in a believable manner. I also don't like it when they give Dwight seemingly "superhuman" abilities.

Personally, I think the show peaked in the 3rd season and that the writers now are simply trying too hard.

Yeah, me too. I was pretty disappointed with the season opener. Other than Andy jumping into the box (was was predictable, but good), I didn't think it was very enjoyable. The humour felt a little flat and off, but I'll keep watching just because I've grown so attached to the characters after the previous seasons and because even though the show is inconsistent, I think it's still capable of greatness once in awhile.

I had to turn my volume down during the opening - it was so obnoxious that I could barely stand to sit through it. The rest of the ep was pretty good, but man, what an annoying way to open the new season!

I have to agree with the consensus of the thread... it just didn't do it for me. After 6 months with no new Office episodes (and I'll admit in that time I went back and watched the whole thing from Episode one to the last of Season 5) I expected a LOT from this first outing... including more than just a run-of-the-mill half hour episode. When it comes down to it, there just wasn't much that stood out in this episode. The parkour stuff was funny, I suppose... maybe a little over the top, even for The Office. The interns went almost completely unused, and those kids were pretty funny. Especially after the HELL Michael put that kid through at the job fair when they were looking for an intern... I expected a LOT more. The Stanley cheating on his wife thing... yeah, just not needed. What's next, pull a Fox and launch "The Stanley Show?" Oh god, I didn't just say that... now it's probably going to happen.

Perhaps the only thing more disappointing than this episode was the premier of "Community." I felt SO BAD for Chevy Chase... he just can't make it on TV. That show was just plain horrible, I will not be watching it again.

^ That is a good way of putting it. Very run-of-the-mill. It seemed more like an episode that is tossed in the middle of a season than an opener.

They probably should have done more with the interns. It felt tacked on.

It wasn't an amazingly great episode, but it was entertaining. Still better than most other stuff on TV. I loved the Andy being gay story line.

Yeah, I usually find Andy a bit annoying, but that was VERY funny. I've seen the episode 3 times already, and I've laughed a lot each time, I thought it was a great opener. Lots of silly laughs which is what the show is all about.

Maybe I just need to go watch it again... I had just gotten home from a 4 day trip and brought back a lovely 8 plane flights in 7 days cold, so maybe it deserves another look with a clear head.
