Do you have a favorite SHOT that makes you go whoa!

I always loved the shot of the Enterprise, returning to spacedock, at the beginning portion of STIII. When it enters and all the people inside are viewing the patched damage to her is just very memorable. Particularly, the look on the face Janice Rand and the shaking of her head, just classic.
My Number one specific shot!:techman:

I always loved the scene when, during the end of the Mutara nebula battle, the Enterprise just rises up behind the Reliant. It just looked awesome with the light erupting behind both of them. Plus, I am an adamant lover of the older studio scale physical models for the effects; I really miss those days.
We reach!!!:bolian:
The spacedock sequence in Star Trek: The Motion Picture probably goes on longer than it should, but I still absolutely love it. It captures the beauty, the excitement, the hope, the mystery, the joy of Star Trek so perfectly.
I am surrounded by like-minded sentients, it seems.

It's not my favourite movie, but it has a shot that gives me goosebumps every time. In Insurrection towards the end when the Enterprise is zooming up next to the side of the whatchamacalit - exploding thing.

Then it transports Picard at the last minute. Whoa!!
Very cool indeed!!!!!!!
Also, the Enteprise vs the Doomsday Machine.
Especially in the remastered version!
And it's the story that makes the ep so strong, the FX just help out some.;)

<snip>

The whole funeral scene is still classic Trek, but that shot as "Amazing Grace" plays is beautifully sad.
Let me add, the haunting tune as Picard plays at the end of "Inner Light".

oh yes...they're both are beautiful.

Another shot i love is at the end of Darmok, where Picard is by the window in his ready room, and he has Dathon's knife (is it?) and he touches his forehead....imitating what he saw Dathon do on the planet. I think that's such a beautiful moment.
If I were not taken (by a great guy), I would have to marry you! We think alike.:techman:

:techman::bolian: i have to hug you. {{{hug}}}

If anyone can find that Generations shot (of Soren, arms outstretched to the nexxus ribbon), would you please post it or PM me? I've searched with google and cannot find one. I'd love to have that pic on my computer. I must be doing something wrong!

I love the shots in Insurrection...the briar patch shots. Gorgeous FX. And, although not a "shot", the crash sequence in Generations.....gawd do i love that!

The shot that I remember most is from Voyager, when The Prometheus splits into three seperate ships, then proceeds to kick some Romulan heine.Very cool!:bolian::techman:

I can't remember the title of the episode. Data's having a series of vivid dreams, in one
Data is walking down a corridor, he comes across his father Dr. Soong, working at an anvil, hammer in hand making a black birds wing. Then Data's flying down the same corridor, over his father head and out in space swooping down on the Enterprise D. Then onward into space. A fantastic sequence.

Up to this episode the show had been using a lot of estabished-canned shots of the Enterprise, this was out of nowhere.

I like "The Doomsday Machine" with the original white-blue Enterprise, the re-done grey is second best.

"Birthright, Part 1" is the episode.

Star Trek VI: When Kirk practically leaps from his chair and snarls "Fire!"

I've mentioned that before, but that's seriously my favorite Trek moment of all time.

For me it's that scene from that Episode of Enterprise when T'Pol drops her robe for Trip and you can see her amazing ass.

That really makes me say "Whoa!"

I think it was in DS9's "The Search", the scene where we first see the Defiant fire her pulse phasers. That had me saying "whoa!" I just didn't expect that level of firepower pouring from a Federation ship. It really seemed like a waterfall of Phaser energy just ripping away.

I also liked the moment in TUC where the Excelsior meets the Praxis energy wave. The look on Sulu's face and the "My God" he exclaims. I mean this is Sulu, he has seen some serious stuff in his day, the Genesis effect, V'Ger and Doomsday Machine. For him to express himself like that in front of his crew... well it had to be bad things coming.

From recent Trek, Star Trek (2009):

- Final shot of Kelvin scene with the shuttles escaping
- First reveal of Enteprise, behind the shuttle, with the spectacular Enterprising Young Men playing in the background
- The Saturn sequence. Not just the final shot, but from when the ship warps in. Those 60 seconds are stunningly well put together and edited.
- Enterprise warping in to save the day, all guns blazing

The latter probably makes me go WHOA the most.

It's really quick, but one of the most artistically interesting choices I've seen in a Trek film is when Kirk is running to see the dying Spock and the shot of the Genesis planet is intercut with it. It's really beautiful and mythic.

I just watched "Broken Bow" for the first time since 2001 and I loved the scenes where the NX-01 is in spacedock and then it's actual launch made me go "whoa." Taken by it's own context, those scenes are very up-lifting as that is mankind's first huge step into space.
