Been travelling!

Club Manor, Makati, Philippines.
The VIP lounge is separated by a laser curtain, accompanied by 5'5" guards. Awesome.

The way they're standing under the lasers makes them look like marionettes!

Okay me, looking like the nerd I actually am, with glasses! Also no huge grin. :p

They suit you. :techman:
Are you near or far sighted? I hate my glasses, but I'm near sighted and get headaches whenever I'm some place without walls. I'm kind of getting a grudge against far sighted people. Never mind the people with good eyes! Bastards, all of them! :shifty:

Good look. Sits well on you.

That is a great picture of you K. :) Love the glasses.

Thanks! I was so nervous about getting glasses because I haven't worn any for ages, but I got them when we were in India. It took a one minute eye exam, about five minutes to pick out frames, and then we had to leave because our flight was leaving in a few hours. We told him to mail them to us (along with my mother's glasses). We get back to our flat and about ten minutes later, a courier showed up with my glasses! They're ridiculous about service over there.

I'm ... *hold on, googling* ... nearsighted! But just barely. I'm something like -.25 in one eye and -.5 in the other, so I basically wear them for driving or to the movies, if I remember. Otherwise I just go without.

Edited to add: Thanks CorporalClegg and TheSeeker as well! :)

^I was -.25 and -.5, too, about 4 years ago. Never wore my glasses back then either. Now I'm not that much worse, -.5 and -.75, but my head is too whiny for me to leave them at home now. And I am too cheap for contact lenses.

People always tell me I look too serious with glasses. You don't have that. :)

Edit:

I hardly have any pictures with glasses, shows my love for them.

Only one I could find was this:

I'm the one with the glasses.

Thanks everyone! :)

And I am not bored. I am "deeply thoughtful", "engrossed in contemplation", or mainly just practising "condescening arrogance while maintaining an air of superiority".

Good effort, but I find the best way to do this with glasses is to learn how to peer over the top of them, while tilting your head forwards so you can look down at them while slightly sneering. Works wonders to send a message of disdain. And gets you a head start on auditioning for the next Bond villain.

Glasses are a wonderful prop to have. I actually quite like mine, though I'm not entirely happy with the shape of the frame (thinking about getting a bespoke pair made at some stage). Yours are very straight across, which is what makes people perceive them as more "serious". From the photo, Kestra's seem slightly curved upwards as you move from bridge to arms, which gives them a slightly more mischievious vibe.

This is what I mean about glasses being a great prop/accessory - they can play games with people's perceptions of you (while hopefully improving your perception of them! ;) )

Of course, but that's like telling an actor that crying is acting sad. No, I'm aiming for the big league. The face that says "you're beneath me" without actually saying anything at all. The face that wants to make you jump off a bridge and afterwards no one really remembers why you did it in the first place.

You had black frames, too, didn't you? Would you keep the color, were you to change the shape?

Ah, then you need half-moons. ;)

I have a fairly long face, combined with some fairly strong features and black hair, so I chose a dark coloured frame but a thin-rimmed one. I like the idea of a bolder rim for next time, but don't know how it will work.

What I really find quite exciting is that some custom makers who will work with horn and/or wood. I have a feeling that the natural warmth of those materials might be quite interesting. It might be too bold for my features though. What I really hate about choosing glasses is not being able to look in the mirror when trying them on and see what I look like, in focus. Next time, I'm taking a camera along to take some snaps of the process.

I've uploaded a cropped image of me (looking rather sozzled, from last night since it's a photo I have handy right now); what do you think might work?
