Interesting article re: original script (and what got left out)

An article about what ended up on the cutting floor/never filmed

http://www.tnmc.org/The-Blog/star-trek-what-you-missed.html

It's an article about a guy who's read the script and talks about what they left out of the movie.. much of it is already known but still there are some nice things i wished they had included to round off the movie and take away some of the biggest criticism.

Very interesting, thanks for that... I look forward to seeing it on BluRay... :D

Re: Interesting article about the original script

veeery interesting. did you read the comments? some of them were just priceless. i especially love when someone takes it upon himself to call everyone who liked the film stupid, while making several grammatical and spelling errors in doing so. :guffaw:

overall i think i like the way they ended up doing it. tho' i really wish they had left in some of the subplot about nero's doings during that 25 years that he was waiting around. that seemed like a stretch to me as it was. they took out almost every inch of his backstory and left us with a character that reminds me of no one more than a crazed dalek - EXTERMINATE! ....but why?
or the bit about the 2nd in command on the narada threatening mutiny - that would have been great. i have caught myself wondering why the hell his crew was so gung-ho about following him on that crazy kill-half-the-galaxy mission of his.

Huh. The idea for the Shat's cameo was... interesting.

It's the latest tactic out of desperation from the naysayers who are mad that everyone else but them, including most Trekkies, like the new film.

Sooo ... is it your point that grammatical and spelling errors are also a sign of stupidity? I wonder what you'd consider a sign of irony?

It would be a sign of irony if he/she had made any grammatical or spelling errors; or if he/she wrote that orthographical errors were a sign of stupidity. But neither of those has happened...

Re: Interesting article about the original script

my point was how deliciously ironic it is to call others ignorant while clearly displaying your own.

Would have liked to have seen the Klingon stuff, except Klingons don't have warbirds and didn't have the cloak until well into TOS.

Eh. Except ENT told us they do have warbirds, and now we "know" they had cloaks pre-alliance... which, I mean, if they already had bird of prey, why not, right?

Except that the existence of the Klingon warbirds with cloaks is before the cited point of divergence. And ENT had Klingon birds of prey. I'd easily call a bird of prey a warbird. It's just a word, after all. Either it's the same universe as it's been all along until that point, or it's a different one entirely. Either way, I'm not much worried about it.

They should have left in the scene of young Kirk and Sam before the joyride. It would have worked better and made more sense.

Just a word? You're obviously on the wrong forum! :p
