But that still doesn't make sense though. So pretty much, he wants two things?
I'm not sure. I'm only guessing on that one.

If he is 18, he has the right to do what he wants in regards to an Exorcism.
Meh, I'm fine with that. Accepted canon's also pretty clear on the role of women in ministry, and if continuing revelation allows us to clarify that, why not the end of Revelation? I wouldn't advocate being blithe about adding to or taking away from (and adding to especially is dangerous at best), but clearly it has been and continues to be done.
That's my problem with it. You are correct that things will continue to be added to it over time. It will continue.

Wait. Sorry, you're saying you don't believe in Continuing Revelation, in God continuing to speak to us today?![]()

Oh, no. Quite the contrary. That's a central tenet of my faith.
I thought you were referring to the Bible being used to tighten down more on society.

Oh, ok. Whew! I was very confused, because in all my lurking and following, your opinions have never seemed to me in opposition of continuing revelation.![]()
Though that said, I do think maybe different aspects of Scripture should be highlighted in different times to "tighten down more" on specific issues of society, as guided by the Spirit. That make sense? And of course, there are passages that should always, always be highlighted - Micah 6:8 comes to mind.![]()

Indeed, quite the opposite!
Oh, yes. There are passages in the Bible that should be stamped on Christian's foreheads, preferably backwards so they see it in the mirror every morning. That's one of them.Though that said, I do think maybe different aspects of Scripture should be highlighted in different times to "tighten down more" on specific issues of society, as guided by the Spirit. IIRC, he wants government to keeps it's hands out of marriage period. He doesn't accept it Biblically, but that doesn't mean he thinks it's something that government should have it's hands in.But that still doesn't make sense though. So pretty much, he wants two things?

What if the judge slips, and I'm accidently gay married? I WANT KIDS DANGIT.How will my gay marriage affect your straight one?
That would be quite a slip. What if the judge slips, and I'm accidently gay married? I WANT KIDS DANGIT.How will my gay marriage affect your straight one?
Actually, this much of what he says makes sense to me. After all, I believe strongly in religious freedom and I get along well with many religious people, but I wish there was no such thing as religion. As am i, but that's the vibe that i'm getting here. It doesn't make sense to me.
I agree; science does not hold all the answers. But where it does have the answers (like in the case of exorcism -- it's been proven it either does nothing at the least, or does damage at the worst), you can't simply discount the answer science gives you and say "but my faith says otherwise" because you like that answer better.Science is extremely limited and only understands a miniscule portion of reality.
Perhaps it was his way of saying: "Ok, so you'd rather believe in a book. If I present to you a book with so many glaring inconsistencies as to make your head spin, perhaps you realize living life is more then adhering a book to the letter".Even the inconsistencies?Everything in the Bible is just the way God wants it, he made sure of that.
One thing is for sure, we all may have differing opinions, and that's ok, we all have the right to have them, and it doesn't mean we all can't be good friends and chat here on this wonderful BBS. I am sure we all have things in common, else we wouldn't be on a message board titled "TrekBBS" in the first place![]()
