Gay Exorcism!?!?!

Like I've always said: Prove that God actually was the inspiration of the bible. Assuming a other-worldly origin, how do you know that a demon or devil didn't trick the original authors.

Cause I believe God is in control of the Universe, and has the power to do whatever he wants and therefore the Bible is exactly like he wants it, I have faith in that.

And I believe that an invisible pink unicorn is in fact the creator of the universe. His name is Andrew. That certainly doesn't make it true, nor can I really think of why I should be taken seriously if I were to go around claiming that Andrew told me this and that.

^ Well, the problem is that when one is taught that to open one's mind means to open one's spirit to demonic possession, what you get is a very strong religious insurance policy where people are too afraid to ask questions they should be asking.

J.

Which was another reason why i left the church. My friend was asking me very specific questions about my faith that i couldn't answer. So i started thinking if i couldn't answer these things, why am i even practicing this faith. So i went to church one last time with my parents and i was trying very hard not to laugh. Never been back to church since. So i credit my best friend for opening my mind.

So, if the Bible is the standard, how do you stand up to it? Do you follow it to the letter or do you pick and choose which parts to acknowledge and follow and skip the rest? A lot of so-called Bible thumpers and other deeply religious people make similar claims yet I'm hard pressed to find one who lives by their supposed strict adherence to the faith.

You have faith in the God you were taught to worship. It's entirely possible, that the writers were tricked or just out and out wrong.

Because we are sinners, we are not perfect, we can never be free of sin, until we die. The best we can do is strive to do our best and study and follow the Bible, it is a constant journey.

And so you avoid answering the question with the old "we're all sinners" argument. I take it you just convienently choose which aspects of the Bible suit your needs and disregard the rest.

Since I believe God is in control of everything, and the holy spirit had its hand in the creation of the Bible, then what you propose would not be true.

It's still after Jesus' life.

Duh. They talk about His Death, Resurrection, and Transfiguration. They have to be after the events described. They weren't prophetic. However, they were NOT "several hundred years" after as you claimed.

And anyway it doesn't matter when, cause the holy spirit had the hand in the creation of the texts. Everything in the Bible is just the way God wants it, he made sure of that.

Oh, now come on. Faith is one thing, but you must be joking. Do you know how many books have been removed from the Bible? What changes have been made, and I'm not talking about translational errors (while many), I'm talking about doctrinal modification. Do you have any idea how much has changed?

Do you realize that modern Christianity is more akin to Hinduism than Judaism? The faith may have been rooted in Judaism at first, but it picked up many religious practices and beliefs along the way as pagans who were converted were allowed to go on practicing their own rites and rituals, which found their way into the texts before the Council of Nicea convened to make canon law. You do know the Bible has never been one book until recently. I would assume you are Catholic, also, as the Catholic Bible is the latin texts, the ones that existed before the Reformation and Martin Luther. Honestly, do you know what you're saying and how history would respond to that statement?

Again, cause you were taught that. You've never questioned what you've been taught, hence it's a foreign concept to think that it might be wrong.

*plugs ears*

Of course not, J. Very little of this stands up to critical review, so the usual response is to just NOT review things ;)

Is Michael Chris seriously saying he is surprised that we are serious about being sceptical? That's the question.
