Some new Stargate Universe clips

mmmmm, didn't this show just end a couple months ago? Still haven't seen anything about this show that's interesting. :(

At this point I don't care about the show but will give it a chance. SCI FI have done a pathetic job at promoting the show and knowing it will probably be cancelled after 4/5 years with no ending should anyone give a crap ???

You do realize you just said "4-5 years", right?

Any show would be lucky to last that long these days.

Well, on one hand, it is exactly what a large group of fans--myself included--have been clamoring for: something different.
True, and I'm part of that group. But my wish was kinda a two-part thing - different and good. Not sure Stargate's attempt to ape BSG is going to qualify as anything more than interestingly bad.

BSG-1?

Most series promise new and exciting and different but the proof is in the pudding, I guess we'll see I think by episodes 7-13. I think the first six will be promising but the back stretch will give us an idea of where the series' actual direction.

Ummmm.... also if the show goes on 4-5 years (Or one even) you know they will just make a TV/DVD movie to end out the story. Staragte is the one thing you know they will have an (bad) ending.

When does it start anyways? I think the show will probably be different for like half a season before the writers fall back into their old ways.

They might not if the ratings aren't in. SG-1 and Atlantis have proven audiences--large enough for a modestly budgeted DVD feature, anyway. Universe will have to prove itself first, and will probably stay on the air for a while if it replicates Atlantis' higher numbers.

Meh...it's your standard promo that promises the moon.

I'll still give it a shot in October. But I admit that my expectations for this series aren't very high.

Sean

Cancelled after 4-5 seasons? Sheesh. Any show that goes beyond season one (or even 12 episodes) is lucky these days.

There will be a conclusion the show no matter what. Stargate is MSG's number two franchise (after James Bond), it will continue in one format or another. Maybe there won't be a SGU movie, but they will just close the story off in a SG1 or SGA movie.

Seeing that footage just makes me want to say/scream one thing, "Tripod! Tripod!":brickwall:

I would put money on Carlyle quitting after season 2.

I dunno. I was talking to this producer guy a few months ago and he said that you can tell that Hollywood's indie film industry is struggling since we've lately been seeing lots of actors that you generally only think of as film actors taking regular TV jobs. You got Lawrence Fishburne on C.S.I., Gary Sinise on C.S.I.: New York, Christian Slater on My Own Worst Enemy, Tim Roth on Lie to Me, Neve Campbell on The Philanthropist, and now Carlyle on Stargate Universe.

I'll take a change of any sort over Stargate's stale photography any day. Although unmotivated hand held photography may wear out its welcome quickly if it's dramatically unmotivated, and rather motivated by other reasons (i.e. to look 'cool' or to emulate The Shield and Battlestar Galactica).

"Stale photography"? Martin Wood's photography wasn't stale at all as long as he was there and they did plenty of hand held steadcam shots on SG1, they just didn't try the Michael Bay route like BSG did.

Agreed

Michael Bay's preferred camera work and the style of Battlestar Galactica are really quite different. Whether the photography was "stale" is, of course, a matter of opinion, but count me as entirely disinterested in the photography on Stargate SG-1, which has always been conservative (outside of the occasional visual experiment, such as the use of the Bolex in 'Collateral Damage' as well as 'Sateda' on Stargate Atlantis) and over the course of ten years in mostly the same sets and locations, become awfully boring to watch.

On the bright side, I got you and Kpnuts to agree on something, so maybe I am off my rocker.
