Yeah I agree, waaaaaaay corny. It's not like stress can induce labor or anything.OK one on my nits would be that I thought it was waaaaaaaaay corny to have Jim Kirk being born while his father is dying...I mean what a coincidence that she was in labor just at that critical moment...
I also found it unnecessary for a Spock/Uhura romance...it didn't detract (too much) from the film since these interludes were mercifully brief but I don't think it added much either.
That's it ........for now.....
Why would Uhura be made a First Officer ?![]()
As opposed to...?
If you mean they didn't write the story that way, that's one thing. But within the context of the story on film, she did not demonstrate anything that makes her not being appointed an incorrect choice.
I suppose you two haven't seen 'Pirates of the Caribbean'?![]()
I have but don't remember that much. What's the connection ?![]()
Lol, the way he wrote it (uhora) sounds like U-whore-a.Nit: Their names are Chekov and Uhura

The Kelvin had at least 37 shuttles and the Enterprise had 89, or at least that is the number they were assigned. To me the Enterprise did not seem like she could hold that many shuttles.
Same here, Dutch isn't too dissimilar after all.Lol, the way he wrote it (uhora) sounds like U-whore-a.Nit: Their names are Chekov and UhuraI like Uhura better.
The funny thing is that her name always sounds a bit like the German word for whore

As I said in another thread...
I had some problems with it, despite generally enjoying it. The Spock/Uhura thing was a definite WTF moment. That and Kirk getting promoted to Captain right away. Would not have happened in any sort of real military. But I have also heard complaints about Nero's ship not being a realistic design given its purpose as a mining vessel.
I did a nice long review here if anyone is interested: http://conventionfans.today.com/2009...t-omg-amazing/
IS it the Enterprise in Iowa? Is it ID'd as such?
Well, let's not forget they probably lost quite a few captains (at Vulcan) so there's that. Plus, even though they (Bones, Kirk, et al) were in Star Fleet Academy, Kirk was in officer track (proven by the fact he took the Kobayashi Maru) and was not coming out as an ensign.

Shouldn't those cars start with 01500?The Kelvin had at least 37 shuttles and the Enterprise had 89, or at least that is the number they were assigned. To me the Enterprise did not seem like she could hold that many shuttles.
89? Where did you see 89 shuttles in the film? Or are you referring to their markings? Because that really doesn't mean there were 89 shuttles. My patrol car has a fleet number >1500, it doesn't mean we have over 1500 cars at our disposal. It's just an assigned registry number.
That last bit probably owes to the encounter with the Kelvin, non?would have liked more McCoy
they called the Klingon ships 'Warbirds'.
they knew what Romulans looked like.
