I'm thinking of getting a dog.

Hair gets EVERYWHERE. On furniture, on clothes. Ugh.

Please make a dog really happy and don't get it. Seriously. If you already know you can't stand a little hair around then don't do it.

A "little" hair is fine. Hair EVERYWHERE is another.

Also, that's why there's dogs that don't shed.

I like the cat idea for you. You need someone to run your life and a cat will do that.

Again.

I don't like cats.

As a dog enthusiast, I'll just reiterate what many have already said. Give it a LOT of thought. I have both dogs and a cat. The cat (I know you don't like cats) is a whole lot easier. The dogs take a lot of work and care. If shedding is an issue, nix the pet idea. Pets are not clean. they take effort. they take extra cleaning. My wife and I are sweeping up dog hair ALL THE TIME. To us, it's worth the love and companionship we get from the dogs.
Of course, with cats you could be blessed with frequent hairballs. So you never know.
I'd recomend you go to a good pet rescue and speak with a dog behavioralist. They'll help steer you to the right dog. Be prepared to look for a long time to find the right dog. Don't just go for the first one you see because he has cute eyes.
If you live in the Los Angeles area, I can point you to a good pet rescue.
Good luck. If you decide on a dog and put in the effort, it's well worth it.

One other thing, I HATED cats, but they came with my wife when we got married. Now, my cat is one of my best friends. So, you never know...

I'm giving it thought. It's not like I plan on rushing out tomorrow to get it.

Again on the hair issue, a dog that doesn't shed solves that problem easily.

^How about leaving the trolling question and the attitude behind it out of the thread?

Seriously, how many mods are we gonna' have to train? Do I not spend enough time on this board, or what?

I was kidding. Trekker4747 knows I was kidding.

We all know I'm the dog fucker. Jeez...

Of all the problems and messes dogs will cause, hair is VERY low on the list...

I'd actually disagree with that because it depends on who's making the list and why. We had two miniature schnauzers when I was growing up, one of the reasons why went with that breed was because the lack of shedding and general ease on people with allergies. Cleaning up poop is easy compared to sneezing all the time. Philosophical musings on dog ownership aside, of course.

Dongs are a lot of work but they do look good,

i'd suggest either a spaniel or maybe a border collie had both in my time and they are lovly dogs especailly the collie i've had three of these and they were all nuts.
