If he had said they create "gates" or "holes" or something vague about the spatial tunnels, I'd be a bit more understanding. But, wormholes have a
definition in real life. It would be like someone asking "What is the force that keeps all objects drawn towards the ground?" and the answer being "Solar Flares" (instead of gravity).
While wormholes are theoretical, I can damn well know (just by their theoretical definition) that you can't create one by "going really fast". It's like the 1970's Superman movie, flying around the world to reverse time. Come on, haven't we in the 21st century moved past the moon-made-of-cheese beliefs in science? Even in the general population?
I guess it's what you mentioned. Biologicals rending physics. It just throws everything into strictly magical fantasy world (kind of like the Sonic Everything Wand he carries these days). Don't throw "sciencey" words out there if you're not going to bother trying to at least know what you're talking about. Lazy writing.
