The Running Man

Norrin Radd

Vice Admiral
They should remake this film, but base it more closely on the original Stephen King novella.

The movie is classic Arnold cheese, but the book is actually very good...imo

The movie is a pure guilty pleasure. I've never read the King novel, though. Wouldn't mind a genuine adaptation of it, since the Arnold version is so far from the original source material.

I love the Arnold movie but I wouldn't mind seeing what someone else could do with the story.

One of Richard Bachman's finest. I wouldn't mind seeing another film attempt. Also, I seem to recall that there was to be a film of The Long Walk?

Why make another movie? The way reality TV is refusing to go away, just wait a few more years and they'll be doing it for real!

I loved the book, didn't really like the movie. The movie used the basic concept but discarded most (if not all, been a while since I've seen it) supporting characters and subplots. From reading the book, you can tell Arnold was probably one of the last people King would have ever envisioned to play Ben Richards.

Actually when I saw the first promo for Scifi's The Chase The Running Man was the first thing that came to mind.

Awesome tagline for this flick: "The year is 2019. The finest men in America don't run for President. They run for their lives."

The Arnold movie is hilarious. I wouldn't mind another go; maybe they could do something serious and cool with it.

Or maybe it'll turn out just as hilarious.

The movie is great for its pure 80's Ahnuld-ness.

That said, The Running Man is one of my favorite Stephen King/Richard Bachman Books and I would love to see a faithfull adaptation.

Another awesome Bachman book. I believe Frank Darabont talked about it when doing the press tours for The Myst back in 2007. I'm don't know if there has been any more development on this however.

yes, I actually this book years ago. And I actually like the movie and thought Richard Dawson was pretty good in it...definately worthy of a remake though...who do you see starring in it Norrin? And who do you see directing it???

Rob

This movie is just pure, good, Schwarzenegger 80s cheese.

I mean, you have to love a movie that has fucking Richard Dawson in it!!!

Amen brother...

Rob

yeah, Dawson had some great lines...

"Hey cutie pie...you know, one of us is in big trouble."

"Give them an evasive answer. Tell them to go fuck themselves!"

"Hello? Get me the Justice Department. Entertainment Division."

"You want people in front of TV screens instead of on picket lines? Well, you ain't gonna get that with reruns of Gilligan's Island!" (pause) "Gilligan's Island...da da-da-da...yeah, the one with the boat!" (hangs up) :guffaw:

Yeah this one's making the cable rounds. I hadn't seen it in a while; Fun movie. I wouldn't count on a faithful adaptation being made in this day and age. We'd be more likely to get Running With The Stars or Dystopian Idol. And who needs a whole panel of Killians.
