At least the 'Shepherd" guy drove a Trans-Am. That was cool.
Actually, it was a Camaro - although either were pretty much a cliché for this story.
And I utterly
deplore the notion that Shep is gay in this universe, and he never got the chance to meet Straight Shep. Damn damn damn!!!! I wanted to see Straight Shep's reaction. Too often, alt-characters are either exactly the same or so utterly different that the original can't relate. I like the notion of characters meeting where just one thing is different, but it's something big.
And no, I don't want the story to go where yall are thinking.

Well maybe...no!
I'm not sure where you 'want' the story to go, but I'm pretty sure we didn't see the same one -
gay Shep? I don't recall
any sexuality - the closest was the nurse who asked Shep to call her, but a man blowing off a woman's attempt to hook up doesn't mean he's gay

. I just got the impression that something
had happened in the past, and they had two very different responses to it.
AUs don't automatically reverse every aspect, large and small, of the characters who appear in both.
BTW, I'd have to go back to the episode where we met "Rod." "Vegas" gave something of the impression that this was his home universe, but I thought 'his' Sheppard was also in the SGC, and much more scientifically-minded. Was this yet a different AU where another 'Rodney' had opened a rift, or did they
all do it, in
every AU?
