Uhhhh.... did I see this right: Oakland 31 - Denver 10 ???????

And the Giants are playing without Brandon Jacobs and Plaxico Burris but still winning 34-19 ???? OKay... 34-26. But only 4 minutes to go

Everybody look out!!! Mistake-prone Denver strikes again. They lose 31-10, let's look at the points lost.
Fumble at the five. 31-17
Missed field goal: 31-20
Another missed field goal: 31-23.

And just like that, it was a 1 score game again. And let's ignore the interception by Cutler (hmmm... didn't Plummer get benched for this exact thing?) and the 18 yard reception on 3rd and 11 that got canceled out but some jackass who felt the need to chop block. It's not even like they lost to a respectable team. They lost to the Fucking Raiders!!! The same Raiders that failed to score an offensive TD in 15 quarters did it 3 times today! I want the Broncos from the first 3 games back. Hell, I want any Broncos back that weren't from games 4-11.

Yup. My recent strategy for the survivor pool I'm participating in has been to select Oakland's opponent whenever Oakland's playing on the road. I didn't do that this week because Denver sucks balls and is horribly inconsistent.

And speaking of mediocrity, in the other corner, we have Arizona.

Oh I don't think Arizona is mediocre at all. Not with arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL and Warner throwing 300+ yds every game it seems. Granted, the division defines pathetic, but the Cardinals have really done well this year. Today is probably their first loss at home this season.

An excellent effort from my Cards. If their special teams play is even decent, as opposed to horrendous, they beat the Giants.

A one-score home loss to the Super Bowl champions/best road team in decades is hardly something over which to hang their heads. If the G-men had not afforded Arizona the respect they've now earned, they'd have lost today. Unfortunately, New York is too professional to underestimate their opponent.

Yah! The Giants won!

I'm still wondering just what was going on with that 68 yard FG attempt by Rackers at the end of the first half. I've never seen players line up that way on a FG attempt. It was like they were playing a kickoff or something, which is kind of what it turned out to be.

The worst part?

It was at home. :wtf:

I think the most damaging thing about it all was the fact that Cutler could not hit any of his receivers. He was either overthrowing it or underthrowing it, or just straight shooting out of bounds, but by god, there was not a single receiver near any of his balls.

If it weren't for the fact that the Chargers aren't looking great either, I am ready to call it good at game 16. But, it looks like we may just get game 17.

That's a pretty optimistic assessment.

Arizona is good team, but losing at home against a banged up Giants team proves they are not ready to play with the big boys yet.

They are not going to go east and win a playoff game.

That's a pretty optimistic assessment.

Did you actually see the game?

It's not optimistic in the least. It's time on target. The Cardinals clearly outplayed the Giants in two of the three main aspects. Only their special teams failed spectacularly.

They played with the biggest boy today, and held their own.

They are not going to go east and win a playoff game.

Now that I agree with. They'll have to have an amazing year-end run that gets them a second seed (which is highly unlikely given that they lost a close one at Carolina), or content themselves with a wild card round win. That will more than make me happy: I don't think any other team is defeating the Cardinals in Glendale this year.

After all, it'll be only the second playoff win in a decade, and the first division title since 1975. I don't need any more than that for 2008.

Fortunately, we have time. Our division foes are crippled and pathetic, after all. :techman:

The Cowboys won. But they still need to learn to finish a game. They shouldn't have let the 49er's score like they did in the last quarter. And the Cowboys, "Who the hell are these guys on the field?", fourth quarter team showed up again. It was 9 to 29 going into the fourth and Dallas allows The 49er's to score 13 points, while they only managed 2 field goals. Dallas still hasn't learned to finish a game.

Yes I am being nit picky. Their rivals in the NFC East would have stood a good chance of winning with the way the Cowboys played the fourth.

The Colts just seemed to find ways to win, but man it's too often by the skin of their teeth. Still, I get the impression they are getting their legs under them bit by bit as the players recover form their injuries. Drafting Anthony Gonsalez a couple of years ago is looking more and more like a great pick, as he keeps making clutch catches on third down and the like. THen again as lackluster a season as Harrions has been having (for him anyway), he was the oen making the most important catch, the 4th down conversion on that winning drive.

The Giants keep impressing me more every week with their depth. Not too many teams can still look that good all without thir #1 RB and #1 WR. Eli Manning... just does not look like the same guy from even the beginning of the 2007 season. He's always been so laid back, but now he is consistently making the right play at the right time. Steady and reliable and unflapable. These guys really could win it all again.

The Ravens.... week-to-week it's hard to tell who is goin to show up, but when all cylinders are firing they can be darned impressive. Loved the lockerroom " thanks from Coach Harbaugh to his players. And they reall love him. What an incredible coaching job this rookie has done this season. Coach of the Year... it's either him or Atlanta's Smith.

It's gotten to the point where they really don't miss starters when they're out, a la the Patriots' juggernaut. They're clearly the best in the business, and simply allowed a very talented but raw Arizona team to make enough mistakes. True professionals.

Speaking of the Patriots juggernaut, we're watching Matt Cassell grow up in front of our eyes. He looked awesome yesterday! I guess Belichick knew what he was doing when he put him in there instead of looking for an experienced backup.

He's playing his way into starting somewhere next year.

There is something to be said about depth. Every Super Bowl champion seems to have more than adequate depth on their roster, as "well, duh" as that might sound. The NFL is a brutal game, with injuries happening to each and every team. If you don't have capable backups who can come in to spell the starters, you're walking a fine line between success and failure.

It's mind-boggling to think that only a little over a year ago Coughlin's job was in doubt. Not long before that, people were wondering if his severe, almost militaristic style would allow him to last in the league. Although I can't recall the specifics, apparently he's become flexible enough that he's adjusted where possible to the personnel. Not only players but coaches as well. And look at the result.

sums up the season pretty well.
