I haven't seen it either, but damn, there's nothing odder than an 11-10 final score. That, plus a tie game, made it a really weird Sunday.

What in the world happened at the end of the SD/Pittsburgh game? I can't find any replays right now, but at the time during the game, I couldn't see the "illegal forward pass" that the refs saw. It didn't change the outcome any, but it was just odd.

The penalty prevented Polamalu's TD, giving the ball back to San Diego. The penalty was on San Diego, so I'm guessing that there wasn't a choice on Pittsburgh's part as to declining said penalty. I'm not sure how to reason this out to satisfaction. I guess had Pittsburgh declined it, SD gets the ball at the original line of scrimmage and they get another shot. Take the penalty and SD still has the ball, but 10 yds back, and they still get another shot. Since it didn't happen on 4th down, possession doesn't go to Pittsburgh.

i think it has to with the penalty coming at the end of the game.
it cant be refused /
or i may be totally wrong.

evidently the titans were confused about playing in the eastern time zone and took awhile to remember oh yeah game and not practice.

I ... I ... uh ... erm ... uh ... I ....

WHAT THE FUCK BEARS

You could've stuck a gun to my head and I wouldn't have picked the Bears to win today. They've beaten the Pack a few too many times recently, making the Pack play on their home turf with a fire under their collective asses. The rosters aren't different enough in talent to make me think the Bears could've pulled it out.

If Satan ate a dead skunk that died while choking on Limburgher cheese, and then took a shit in a Port-A-Potty on the last day of Woodstock, it would not stink as bad as the Rams.

Goddamnit!!!

:scream:

I'm glad the Niners won, but wake me up when they beat a team like Dallas. Then I will be impressed.

"Yeah, can I get a large pepperoni & mushroom, extra crisp?
...and you better add a bag-o-wings and a large bucket-o-beer.
Gotta stuff down this disappointment after losing to these 'Boys!"

Apparently it's the first time ever for a score of 11-10.

This morning I heard on sports talk that the league admitted they botched that booth review. It should've been 10-18 Steelers afterall.

The Titans pulled the game out in the 2nd half to stay unbeaten at 11-0. I give the Jags credit they played a great first half and the Titans played into their hand by playing like crap. Whatever regrouping occured at halftime though turned it around.

Its a double edge sword. One it gives you confidence that you can come from behind and win, on the road. The downside is that as good as the Titans are playing I wouldn't want a hungry Giants, Colts or Cowboys team to have you down 3-14 at half. I'm thinking that Favre and his Jets will be a real good test next week.

I've yet to find much to read up on this Eagles game that ended in a tie. I didn't know NFL games could still end in a tie. I thought like the NHL they played till there was a winner.

Congrats to Warner and the Cards for winning in Seattle. I picked that in the work pool.

^Okay, I knew there was no illegal forward pass... which then begs the question what were they looking at?!? Maybe it's just because that first SD/ Denver game put a bigger spotlight on the refs this year, but it seems like I've been seeing/ hearing about refs really botching calls. I can't remember which one, but there was a game I was watching within the past week where the refs delivered a terrible pass interference call which took the offense of some team out of a 3rd and long or 4th and long situation from the 30-40 yard line and dropped them on the goal line.

Personally, I've been annoyed at all the BS roughing the passer calls I've been seeing this year. Yes, I realize they want to protect the Quarterback from unnecessary harm, but I've seen flags thrown for hits less than a second after the ball leaves the QBs hand where the defensive player hits shoulder first. At some point, they should just let the players play (especially when a 15 yard penalty could dramatically change the outcome of a game).

I vote for Mike Ditka to be the new NFL Commissioner, or at least in cahrge of officiating!

and it cost a lot of people money who were wagering on the game. The spread was 4. If the call was right, Pitt covered and people won. As it was, if you took Pitt, even though they won, they didn't cover and you lost your bet.

You and Donovan McNabb both.

The only other tie the Eagles have played to was also on Nov 16.

the latest offering about the Broncos. They started someone on offense and defense yesterday and consulted the league as to what number he could wear that wouldn't cause him to have to check in/ declare himself eligible on offense.

^Larsen was a tough guy... not only did he start on both offense and defense, but he was special teams too! He really did play a 60 minute game!

Only during the preseason and regular season can a game end in a tie. During the playoffs and Superbowl, they keep adding on quarters until someone scores.

Here's my personal oddity. During the past week, I've been watching three different games in which one of the teams had a point total of "5" on the board at one point during the game. In my thirty years of avid football watching, the only time I could ever remember any team having "5" on the board at any time was the old Houston Oilers' point total in the 1979 AFL title game against Pittsburgh, one of the earliest games I can remember watching. I'm a little too young to remember the 1970 NFC Divisional Playoffs, when the Cowboys beat the Lions 5-0, still the lowest-scoring game in postseason history.

There does seem to be an awful lot of safeties lately. That may in part be due to the number of inexperienced QBs playing this year.
