You know, it also appears that the classic rank stripes are used in the new movie. Spock has two silver braids on his cuff, which represented commander in TOS. However, we don't know their ranks as yet, so maybe he's a full lieutenant and they've adopted a modern navy rank pattern! -- RR
Looks like Quinto's Spock has only one facial expression, doesn't it?
It's somewhat reminiscent of Derek Zoolander mastering the Blue Steel.

I'll grant you the size of the actual vent, but I think it is clear from the official teaser screencap that both nacelles have wedge-shaped intakes that taper down to the nacelle housing much like those on the shells of modern Formula One race cars.

I'm starting to think that one half-band is for ENS, one full band for LTJG, one and a half for LT, two for LCDR, two and a half for CDR, and three for CPT. Obviously this is just a guess, mainly because I've always disliked that Ensigns didn't have anything to differentiate them from enlisted crewmembers.
Those eyebrows are freaking me out, something about them looks really unnatural and wrong on Sylar (though I suppose he is supposed to be alien...).
