B5: What untold stories would you like to see?

If there was one story from the B5 universe that could be made into a new series/miniseries/movie/whatever, what would that story be?

The more I think about it, the more I would like to see a set of miniseries detailing events from the ancient past. The first Shadow War. The initial conflict with the Centauri and Narn. Perhaps a story about Valen as he first arrived on Minbar.

If the B5 series is like Lord of the Rings, then I would like to see the B5 version of the Silmarillion.

Top of my list? Crusade. But by this point that'd probably only be possible in book form...and even then maybe not possible.

Secondly I'd like to know what Valen got up to.

Thirdly I want to know who the hell was it that made Sol go nova.

I think JMS' intent was like this:
The humans of the far future did that on purpose, by opening up jump points within the Sun itself. They did this to prevent any of the younger races from getting their hands on Earth technology. By that time, there was a New Earth - the old Vorlon homeworld - so nobody lost their homes. :)

Re: the sun blowing up
It wasn't planned by the humans. They were doing an emergency evacuation. That was the whole point of the guy trying to grab the info before hauling ass out of there. It was done by their enemies.

I personally have no interest in the telepath war, as the telepaths were always by far the least interesting aspect of the series. I mean what's it gonna be, groups of people glaring intensely at each other from across the room? I would like to see how Lennier died though, I believe it was in the TP War.

What I want to see the continuation of Crusade and Galen's story. If you've read the Techomage Trilogy... it was truly involving stuff and some of the best B5 has to offer.

David's story was in one of the novels:

Basically, the guys go to Centauri Prime and kill the Drakh who spawned David's keeper. This causes the keeper itself to die as well.

I quote JMS on the Lurkers Guide:

  • Actually, the computer voice specifies that it is continuing to note atypical solar emissions...atypical meaning something unusual is going on.
  • And what if you, say, interfered substantially with the mass of the sun by, say, causing a series of jump points to open up *inside* the sun across several days?
  • You'd also substantially decrease the mass of Sol, which as I understand it, would result in the sun going nova.

- The Telepath War
- Garibaldi catching up with Bester
- Lennier post Ranger (though I hated what they did to his character)
- Anything about David Sheridan
- More about the Alliance post Delenn and Sheridan moving to Minbar
- The first Shadow War with B4 as the base of ops

I want to see:
- Prince Vintari in an adventure with David Sheridan
- Lyta/G'Kar adventures (unfortunately not possible)
- an early Neroon story.

I would have liked to see a TV movie about The Dilgar War... Of course a resolution to Crusade's plague would have been nice too.

Otherwise I'm pretty satisfied.

telepath war
the remainder of Crusade

i also wouldn't mind exploring the Hand and some of the elements from the Rangers but not without some serious retooling of the show.

anything else would be seriously limited since we no longer have Biggs and Katsulas around.

I'd be happy with some proper conclusion to Crusade.

It would have been nice to have seen what ended up being printed in the Legion of Fire trilogy filmed.

It would have been interesting to see the Telepath War filmed and explained, rather than constantly alluded to without ever covering specifics.

Alas, with a rapidly aging cast that has already lost two principals, and a creator who has had poor luck in the past, bungled opportunities like Legend of The Rangers with mediocre writing, or just been plain fed up with the system (as it stands now), I don't expect to see any of this happen outside of a new, re-booted incarnation of Babylon 5 (which I don't expect to even hear whispers of in Straczynski's lifetime).
