They do need new writers for sure, hey what about bringing on some of BSG's writers! after all it about being stuck on a ship and them tryingt o get to Earth! LOL
Wow, going for an even younger demographic, with even younger and more attractive characters? With more ship action (as if Atlantis didn't have enough)? I hate to sound like certain posters here, but my enthusiasm is plummeting with every new piece of news I read.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwyIMzfzz8o They make fun of it and then they do it! argh! "yo dawg what'd you do that for?" "Duh, I was still gonna tap dat" I think they'll bring Keller(Jewel) aboard the series. She seems young enough. Ofcourse if everyone around her is younger then she'll be like a grandma to them
It won't be Voyager because Voyager could at least steer the ship. So what will the bad guy be? They can't have any allies and we can't see the same people more than once because the ship just keeps going.
thats just begging for alot of filler episodes like what Voyager and all other space shows do. visit the planet save the villagers leave and never come back
Atleast we know now that Scifi wasn't the ones who axed Atlantis. I would have rather had a few more years of Atlantis than this younger vibe "universe"
I have a very bad feeling about this. Younger vibe = appeal to younger demographics. Look out for the 'hawt', busty, de-ascended Ancient babe and the muscular, male 1st officer who has a habit of reporting for duty in his underwear. God, I hope I'm wrong, I really do. The casting for this series should be interesting.
I'm only an occasional Stargate fan, but it sounds like a terrible idea for the franchise on the whole. Even the Caprica spin off sounds a little too soon for the Battlestar franchise.
New Mexico, pleeeeease. I want proper alien worlds for a change! But we'll get stuck with the same old dreaded pine trees. Since we already know we're getting a rehash of a rehash, my one wish is for Stargate to once again do the one thing it excels at, mainly casting a hotty as the lead actor. Michael Trucco would do just fine. Like the guy in your av? There have been a lot of premises that sounded good. VOY's sounded good at first - the reason SG:U sounds bad is because we know that Stargate + VOY doesn't equal anything good. ENT sounded good. BSG - basically VOY with Ron Moore doing it right - sounded frakkin' great. For their sake, I hope it's Ronin - he's the only one on Atlantis who's ever right about anything. This is essentially the same premise, but without any Cylons chasing them (tho I wouldn't discount them picking up a Cylon-type enemy along the way). The bigger change is no need for political or religious metaphors. So yeah, the BSG writers would be a big improvement. By taking an apolitical approach, SG:U won't seem like a BSG ripoff - VOY ripoff, maybe - and the BSG writers can write strong character-based stories, which is the only place for SG:U to go other than the dreaded gimmick based stories which I'm certain we'll be getting instead of anything good. Oh why not. It's going to be a trainwreck, why not make it entertainingly bad?
The destiny will have it's own version of the decon chamber with Coomb(I'd die if they cast Billingsley in SG:U) watching over the wash down.
I really hope they don't have such a character. That has been done to death and is totally played out in the Stargate shows.
Yeah, same here. I'll give it a shot, too. If it turns out to be really bad, I'll do what I did with Atlantis and just stop watching. Sean
Oh we just know the pilot episode will go roughly like this team is formed and introduced to the destiny with cameo from someone from Atlantis or Sg-1 probably a sending off speech You are the world's best and brightest. And in light of the adventure we are about to embark on, you're also the bravest. I hope we all return one day having discovered a whole new realm of humanity to explore, but as all of you know, we may never be able to return home. I'd like to offer you all one last chance to withdraw your participation. We land on the first planet, stick our noses where we shouldn't and piss off a villain *insert P90 gunfire in a Vancouver forest* A strong silent warrior type decides to come along since there's nothing left on his planet
This is great! I wanted the third show to be set on a ship! Not sure about this preprogrammed bit though.
I remember after 200 aired, someone thought up a Stargate teen series based on the skit, and made it a parody of The OC. They called it The SG, with its theme song "Colorado, here we come..."
That was just fan speculation, but it makes a lot of sense. How stupid does Brad Wright think the fanbase is? Exactly. Even if it's the same type of "younger audience" stuff on Smallville, this will be a disaster, in my opinion. And I'm a part of the "younger audience"! I'm still pissed off about the Atlantis cancellation, but I'm willing to give Universe a chance. They need to wow me, and make up for their bullshit within the first 5 or so episodes.
