Anybody here a Redskins fan? Apparently their top draft pick was taken off the field at practice today, with a pulled hamstring. Man ... seems as if these gusy can'[t catch a break.

But didn't Shockey play for Payton when the latter was coaching in New York? That may be as much of a factor as anything else.

I believe that that was certainly a factor in this trade, and he might have a better attitude under Payton than Coughlin.

Of topic a bit, but are we going to split NCAA and NFL discussion this year?

I mentioned in my first post that I think we should. No need to really merge them anymore now that we have our own forum.

Agreed. Two separate threads would be good.

I was asking someone at the Seahawks FO if they would consider some sort of friendly series against the BC Lions, once BC Place gets renovated in a few years - and they said that NFL teams, as a rule, don't play off-season matches.

Is this the case across the league?

Oh, and any word on how the Seahawks are looking so far?

    Hello Neroon,

    Life-Long REDSKIN FAN here!
Looks like it's going to be another tough year.
As long as we beat America's Team, I'm a happy fan.
Would be nice to make a run in the playoffs though. :techman:

Besides the Super Bowl, about the only football-related thing I watch is the NFL kickoff show. This year, we have the good fortune to have Keith Urban as one of the performers. :)

Damnit, more Brett Farve crap. Dude needs to just Let. It. Go. He's turned into the biggest drama queen since T.O.

How quickly teams' fortunes (specifically, the Jaguars) change.

Reggie Williams (WR) is out through the whole preaseason with a knee injury.
Jerry Porter (WR) is out through the whole preaseason with a hamstring injury.
Matt Jones (WR) is likely to be cut due to pending charges of a felony posession of cocaine and a severe lack of talent.

Which leaves our #1 receiver as....Troy Williamson. Even as a diehard Gamecocks fan, this thought scares me to death. We've also got Mike Williams (out all last year with injuries), John Broussard (old and more of a pass returner), and Dennis Northcutt (missed half of last year with injuries). Oh. Joy.

The Texans foolishly signed another injury prone running back during the off season, Chris Brown from the Titans. He's already missing time in training camp because of injuries. Aman Green is doing fairly well though, but I don't think that will last. After those two, we got rookies and 2nd year players.

Gibbs had better do a good job with the O-line and teaching them the ZBS and cut blocking or the Texans will be in the bottom of the league in running again.

To show how bad things are, the Texans are giving a try out to Mike Bell, the cast off from Denver.

If Troy Williamson is your best receiver, that's a sorry state of affairs. The guy has the hands of a lobster. You'd better hope Northcutt stays healthy.

    Amen.

I don't know what it's like around the country, but here in Wisconsin, you can't turn on the TV without hearing the latest tidbit about "Favre's Future?". They're rehashing the same shit over and over and over again.

And now there's this marketing deal that would keep him off the field, yada, yada, yada, YAWN! He seriously needs to go away.

As for Rodgers....eh. I'm not too optimistic about the Packers this year. If you look at Rodgers the wrong way he pulls a hamstring. It's gonna take a while for my team to regain its strength (MINUS FAVRE!!!).

And in NFL news that I care about, the NFL Hall of Fame induction is tomorrow and another great 49er is going, Fred Dean. I never got to see him play, but he was around during the early Bill Walsh era and that be default deserves great respect. I'm also glad Monk is going in, but I'm afraid I don't know too much about the others. Will anyone be watching these ceremonies tomorrow?

I'm not sure anyone can out-drama queen T.O. but Farve is at least in second place. What a fiasco. :wtf:

Sounds like Broncos are letting Lynch go. It really sucks that that's happening... the guy's been having great seasons, he takes a paycut to stay in Denver, and then Shanny reduces his playtime. Lynch was one of my favorites too. :( So, no more Lynch, no more Elam, no more Sharpe (though I do think that's the best thing for him). I hope Marshall is feeling 100%.
