But T'Pol said in Enterprise that the Vulcun Science Counsel determined that time travel was impossible.![]()
:cough: at least that's what they believed in the 22nd Century, there was ample evidence supplied very likely by The Enterprise 1701 herself that they were... umm in error. :cough:
Something we the audience always knew.

Time travel has been a part of Trek since the fourth episode of the first season of TOS. It's as much a part of Trek as warp drive and phasers. Some stories are better than others, yes, but that's writing, not the fault of time travel as a story vehicle.

"The USS Kelvin
The Kelvin is a Federation starship from a generation before the Enterprise and smaller than the Enterprise."
Looks like they got the same idea I did years ago. Just after Enterprise premiered, I got to thinking what would a pre-Constitution class starship look like. So I scaled down the dimensions of the Enterprise by 30%, and added some "rough" detailing. Though I did transistion some "styling cues" from various ships we've seen (mainly the refit Enterprise).

I'm sure it will be handled well in the movie, but the idea of Spock flying around in a one-man time ship sounds pretty ridiculous.

Below is an actual leaked photograph of Spocks timeship. The paramount bigwigs are running through the legal machine at the moment to see if they can afford the rights. There are a few concerns about cost, but they are thinking it will be worth it to see it up there on the big screen.

Saw that. Everyone had been speculating about where he'd fit. Since the Capt. Robau role is supposed to be fairly substantial, does that mean we see a lot of George Kirk, too?Did anyone notice the tidbit about George Kirk being XO of the USS Kelvin?
Even the 22nd-century Vulcan Science Directorate's position was clearly demonstrated to be in error by the events of "Shockwave" so, crutch or not, time travel is a part of the Trek universe. That's fine, as far as I'm concerned; what matters to me is how it's handled. But T'Pol said in Enterprise that the Vulcun Science Counsel determined that time travel was impossible.![]()

I say go with the 22nd century Vulcan view of time travel; It's impossible so it can't be in a Star Trek movie. It's a crutch that let's you do anything in Star Trek and then undo it at any time. It takes no real thought or effort. I so wish STXI was going to be about something else other than time travel.
So that's... what, 200%?I agree 100%.I think we're well past the point of debating whether or not time travel "belongs" in Trek. Yep, me too.![]()
The odd thing about this discussion, "Time Travel" ha always been part of Trek, one of its classic/well known episodes rests on it as a plot device. A legitimate plot device and just cause former producers handled it with a mixed bag doesn't mean these new ones shall.so I really don't fucking care how well it fits into "Star Trek" continuity.
People, people, I brought up what T'Pol said on Enterprise as a joke.
