I agree with you, including your assessment of one individual in particular who has made it his mission to follow me from thread to thread to ridicule me. It's a shame that such behavior is allowed, but I suspect people with similar...values...stick together.
No offense, but without any logical support for this statement, it reads hollow. Also, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for a moderator to request that a thread containing content he/she doesn't agree with should be deleted. Seems a bit close to censorship.
I did indeed read it myself. I posted it in the same spirit that I asked ChatGPT to write it: FUN. This thread (and many other Trek online communities) are filled with hand-wringing, finger pointing, and outright hate over the end of Alex Kurtzman's time on Trek and the possibility that future Trek will be run by a different corporation. I thought perhaps these ideas, which are not entirely terrible, might be fun to dissect.
As I tell my students each semester, AI is the ultimate plagiarist. Not one of these ideas is unique, which is interesting in that it suggests that there are some folks out there with some, at the very least, unique ideas for where Trek could go. I personally think the idea of moving the story eighty to a hundred years after Nemesis, with a galaxy at peace instead of endless war, has a lot of potential. Hell, TNG was supposed to be about the era of "technology unchained." After two seasons of true exploration, the show became very localized to the Federation and was about politics, conflict, espionage, war, and the mind-numbingly dull lives of the dull Enterprise-D's captain and crew. I'd be all for a take that sees an era of true peace and what new possibilities come from that.

I guess the difference between AI as portrayed on Star Trek and as it actually is - well, generative AI at least - is that the tools on Star Trek weren't replacing humans and their curiosity/wisdom, whereas generative AI aims to supplant human imagination and creativity. I write books (or at least try to), and I try to conjure up everything via my imagination and experiences. Seeing AI produce instant slop, bastardising the works of countless hard-working human beings to do so, whilst slowly hastening the decline of our environment and our ability to think, doesn't make me love how it's been implemented so far.
Also, as has been pointed out, TOS literally had an episode railing against the idea of computers replacing humans AND said computers inheriting flaws from their creators/programmers. And TNG then had an episode where Picard called out the intention to replace human workers with armies of slave androids by copying Data. So to claim that being anti-AI is to be against the spirit of Star Trek just tells me someone hasn't really been paying attention to Trek.
I think one of the ouchy-est things it's said to me was "The main character reads like 'Rebellious commander #28."
This, after a lot of praise in an analysis done without the "be honest" admonition.

There's actually a Myriad Universes novella, "Brave New World", where IIRC "Measure of a Man" goes differently and Data ultimately resigns from Starfleet and disappears. Sometime later Our Heroes find him and he's built a world welcoming to artificial intelligence lifeforms (including one or more versions of Lal). He offers to share his technology freely, including the ability to transfer consciousness into cybernetic bodies. IIRC the epilogue has a now-artificial Picard and Data conversing, and there's a subtextual implication that humanity and perhaps other civilizations will eventually be subsumed, because the advantages of an artificial existence are too great for most to resist.
