And I'm not saying that Jean was completely innocent here. Any and all of the MCU heroes have gone outside the law. Daredevil is actually in prison right now for going outside the law. The movie in the thread title is the sequel to three movies that came before it, and in fact depended upon them, and the villain in this movie was very clearly established as being created by Tony Stark right at the very beginning. You're the one treating a chapter in a larger narrative as if it is completely in isolation. That's never been how the MCU has worked and you know that. Maybe you should think before you type..

For those of you who argue the definition of a villain, and that Jean Grey was merely an antagonist, Webster's online says it all. In my world, words have meanings, not just synonyms.

Before he became Iron Man, he was a weapons dealer responsible for countless deaths.
And the villain in the story was damage control. Who lied to and manipulated the hero of the story right from the very beginning.

The New Avengers in the MCU are Yelena Belova, John Walker, Ava Star (Ghost), Bucky (Winter Soldier) and Alexei Shoshtakov (Red Guardian).
Pretty sure the death toll from this group dwarves anything Jean did in this movie. Both in terms of any civilian injuries/collateral damage and in terms of actual deaths of people knowingly working for an organization ignoring human rights and experimenting and kidnapping (and killing) people.

I agree. The DDC was definitely one of the villains in the story.
The main villain. Without whose actions none of the events in the movie would have ever been instigated in the first place.
Tony Stark was the character who opposed the hero in Captain America: Civil War.
Even way before all that, Tony was an arms dealer, so his products were used i. The killing of many innocent civilians, which he was aware of, but didn't care.
However, he became a hero as his life truly changed.
Wanda was used as a weapon, became a hero, but then turned back into a villain.
We shall see if there is an arc to her story. We have no idea how the X-men fit in yet, since she did NOT apparently get sent to a school for the gifted at the end of the movie
