What other TNG crewmember would've been interesting on DS9?

The Shelby in that ep was a male.
Hmmm. I don't want to be one of those dudes saying you're wrong but when you read the background information on "You Are Cordially Invited" at Memory Alpha it has Ron Moore saying he intended that Shelby to be the same one from BOBW. I just remember it because there was some minor issue with New Frontier and how Shelby was supposed to be left alone in that series. Even in the episode they don't specify gender. It also could just be a different Shelby like he mentions.

How could she be? The wedding was held on short notice. I'd be surprised if anyone from outside the Bajor system was able to attend unless they had their own starship. Martok got himself and Sirella there because he was a Fleet Commander and RHIP, but why would Shelby want to even if someone owed her that big a favor?
So my point is that if Shelby in YACI was supposed to be the same Shelby from BOBW then she's already there and there's one TNG crossover that happened offscreen.

But you are right to do so! I broke one of my self-imposed rules and used the transcript without going to the episode itself.

In the transcript: "Captain Shelby owed me a favour. Actually, he owed me several. In fact, how would you like to have another two days off?"

In the episode, Dax actually says, "Captain Shelby owed me a favor. Actually owed me several."

So my apologies. :)

They're in a scene together in Barclay's first appearance, Hollow Pursuits.
They also interact in Realm of Fear (Notably, Miles introduces Reg to his spider named Christina).
Oh, that's right. I remember the spider scene now, at least.

I'm actually glad they didn't bring other TNG crew to DS9. It would have made the universe feel a bit smaller, particularly for as large of an organization as Starfleet is.

Plus, DS9 already had a LOT of developed secondary and recurring characters. They didn't actually need to add more from TNG.

Having said all that, perhaps Nurse Ogawa could have been brought in to see a bit more of what Bashir went through in daily life at the Infirmary.

Shelby could have been a good idea.

Barclay and Ogawa too.

I would also like to add Kes, even if she wasn't from TNG but VOY.

She could have been a great assistant to Bashir or simply become another of the many interesting characters on the station

Not to mention that she would probaly have gotten more development and better use of her personality, wit and psychic abilities in DS9.

I would also have liked to see Q in more that one episode.

Okay, I stand corrected.

(I still don't think having her onscreen would have added anything, and would have required half a minute of screen time to explain who the heck she was for viewers who hadn't watched BOBW.)

Never particularly liked Wesley or Pulaski. Can't support those choices.
The good thing is you don't have to. You can say what who you'd like to see, as the topic suggests.

I think the one that would acclimate best is RIker. He was always probably one of the more relaxed TNG crew members. Drinking, dating, tromboning, acting. I can see him getting with the many weird and wonderful races on DS9 and I can totally see RIker doing a jazz night in Quark's, that'd totally work. You saw a small taste of that with him and Amarie.

I'm a big fan of Pulaski as some will know. I'm not sure I entirely sure she'd work in DS9 mostly as I don't see how she'd interact with the other cast really in my head. She did show herself to be culturally sensitive, which would do well with her on DS9.

I know she was on DS9 quite a bit, but Alynna Nechayev on a more permanent basis could have been interesting. Stationed there to 'supervise' the process. Clashing with Sisko and undermining him. Butting heads with Kira no doubt. Her having to learn to soften a bit as DS9 is not the Federation. They wouldn't have done it as it would have undermined Sisko too much - and it could have fallen into the Weir/Sheppard arrangement in Atlantis and all the pros and cons that had.

Ro Laren was a great choice.

Really sad that they never tied up the Sela/Yar plot thread.

Was it her acting? I hate to say it, but I never thought she was a great actor.

Is there a complete list of characters from TNG that showed up on DS9?

Does the Doctor count with having Zimmerman in DS9 and EMH in First Contact?

You're right about Picard and Alexander (different actor).

Data was never on DS9. Bashir went to TNG for "Birthright, Part I".

Will Riker said he was there, but we never saw him. (Obviously, it was done offscreen, given his conversation with Quark in TNG's "Firstborn".)

Gul Lemec never appeared outside of the "Chain Of Command" two-parter.

The Doctor doesn't count since he was a VOY creation.

Ah you are right - got the direction on Data/Bashir wrong way round!

Right as well with Lemec - saw the actor name on both and didn't think it through!

Fair on the Doctor - I thought we were just going "appeared in both" no originated

I think that Pulaski would be interesting, as I liked the character. She was unappreciated, on some levels. I’m not sure if it would work permanently. There’d be too much tension with Bashir. She might have interacted well with Garak and Quark, both outsiders in their on ways.

A lot of interesting relationships for Data, could see interesting scenes with Odo and Dax given their unique perspectives on life. Of course we already saw his rapport with Bashir and it would get more interesting once revealed he was enhanced. Could see Weyoun being fascinated by him as well given his own artificial origins. Maybe a discussion about Dr. Soong vs The Founders.
