However, I will point out that his motivation for fighting the assassins was initially driven by wanting to rescue the young boy who reminded him of his kids. For all of Frank's issues, he's always been driven by the need to protect the innocent, especially children. This is further emphasized at the end when he chose to rescue Royo's shopkeeper and his daughter, who reminds me him specifically of Frank's daughter. He chose to save over vengeance against Ma Gnucci.
It did make sense in that particular second why he decided to storm into the next-door apartment to save the kid. It just didn't make sense to me why he kept fighting after that.
Thematically, I think it was weaker having Frank make the choice twice to save two random kids - in part because the latter one so overshadowed the first.
They got the same actress that played Frank's wife Maria for the Netflix series to return, but Frank's daughter was played by John Bernthal's real world daughter.
Were any of the scenes with his wife new? I thought they just used clips from the Netflix show.
