Alpha Flight hasn't really aged well. Several characters from the original line up would be considered inappropriate and insensitive today and need to be heavily reworked. It could be done in a way similar to the Echo series where the writers included consultation with indigenous peoples in their creation process.
You're not wrong. Racial stereotypes with Shaman and Talisman, questionable at best portrayal of mental health issues with Aurora. Questionable potrayal of dwarfism with Puck. And inappropriate relationships between Sasquatch and Aurora given Aurora's mental state, and the relationship between Hudson and Heather was heavily implied to have begun when she was underage.

You mentioned a few I haven't thought of. It's been decades since I read any of AF. I was also thinking of Sasquatch, which is considered a spiritual entity in several indigenous cultures.

And I hadn't thought of that. What's funny is that when I first read these stories when they were first released, the only thing I flagged as being potentially controversial was that they were obviously coding Northstar as gay. Now I don't find that controversial at all, and it's all this other stuff stands out.

It is interesting how culture has changed over the decades. I was watching The French Connection last year and Gene Hackman uses all kinds of racial slurs but never says the word F**k. You're right that Northstar as gay would have been the only controversial piece at the time if you weren't indigenous.

If they were to bring Wolverine into the Marvel Universe, I would like to see Logan's ties to Department H and Alpha Flight; or at least a mention of James and Heather Hudson as the ones who found him after he escaped from Styker and the Weapon X project.

Come to think of it, I'm surprised Marvel and Feige didn't try and launch an Alpha Flight movie, instead of The Eternals, post Endgame, with Master of the World as their opponent.

That and also replacing Eternals with anything from Fox was never a possibility.

Eternals was already mostly ready for production before the Fox Disney merger was legally complete (spring 2019). Development and pre-production take time, even moreso in light of the external delays due to covid. There was zero chance of any mutant centric movie prior to late 2022 or 2023 at the earliest.

It occurs to me that a natural way to introduce Wolverine to the MCU would be to have him suddenly show up and pick a fight with the Hulk in the middle of a movie where Banner was a major character. Maybe that will happen in one of the upcoming Avengers movies.

The Council of Reeds should have John Krasinski, Ioan Gruffudd and Alex Hyde-White. Best forget MIles Teller.
