Spoilers First Reviews

You know I thought discovery was the lowest point in trek and we were on a bounce again with SNW, Prodigy, Lower Decks...then this car crash comes along
I gather you haven’t bothered watching it to make your own conclusions, have you?

Coupling that with a random couple reviewers I’ve never heard of before doesn’t really help make your case.

There's some reports out there saying Star Fleet Academy has fallen off the Top 10 charts for Paramount plus after a few days. They all say that ia a distinct and indisputable bad sign.

Assuming that is generally accurate ( it leaving the charts anyway), can anyone offer any insights on how that compares to other trek shows on Paramount plus?

Because although that "sounds" bad, it can be an overblown take if it follows similar trending to other new Trek content on PP where it starts off strong but then levels off.

Before I would even think of taking this seriously, I would have to know who the "they" who are delivering these "reports" are.
It's a bunch of YouTube videos but amoung the sources they cite is Comic Book Resources. With further "updates " saying it has since trended even lower since this article was published.

From my cursory research, the numbers seem accurate but the interpretation is blatantly false/exaggerated/premature

BBC with an incredibly accurate review -

Scott says "some parts of it work while some parts really don’t work.”

“It feels very much like Harry Potter’s sort of wizard school, but of course as a Trekkie, set in space.”

“It is just pretty dry. The main characters very much have a sort of big sob story attached to them that you sort of have a sense of inevitability that it’s all going to end up being OK.”

“It doesn’t really feel particularly special in regards to the plot or the overall feel. It just kind of feels like a normal offshoot of any sci-fi series like this.”

Hayley agrees saying she "felt no desire to watch what I was watching. It was just basic Star Trek to me and not in the kind of fun Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner way.”

“The show itself, I thought, was a weird mixture of performances that lean into the theatrical silliness of it and then these other ones that are entirely dead on their feet.”

“I think I’m going to probably be watching it, but skipping to Paul Giamatti’s bits.”

Hayley and Scott say this one is not a Must Watch

The "Harry Potter in Space" comparison is not surprising. I believe even Kurtzman said he wanted the show to take influence from Harry Potter. ( And Xmen I believe)

Might as well consult horoscopes and tarot cards. Probably more accurate than youtube grifters and clickbait listicle sites.

And this is the first episode.

Wait a minute, if what you're saying is true, then I still don't care.

These numbers tell me nothing because I don't know what the target is.

Even if I do care, what can be done? Should I spam watch it? Posted on social media? Tell me how to fix it.

An unavailable youtube video...might explain its viewcount don't you think? Also why would someone paying for paramount already watch this? Considering they released 2 episodes anyone wanting to watch it would go to where they are both available. Lessens viewership right there again. Also being a youtube video is not its primary platform this is not a youtube webseries, there's probably a chunk of people who don't even know it got a youtube release.

And the comments and downvotes are not from anyone worth wasting oxygen on and I can comfortably say that without even being able to see them.

Look at the downvotes yourself.
Visible downvotes haven't been a thing on youtube for years. Those numbers are only visible to the video uploader, browser addons that claim they bring back downvote numbers are just guessing, or only show downvotes from other addon users.

Look at the viewcount yourself.
The video was restricted to the USA only, cutting out a huge chunk of the possible audience.

Plus anyone wanting to watch it would of just watched it on P+ anyways, not YouTube.

If you want to see what 'actual' fans think of the show, read the review threads on this site and the poll numbers.

Alright grampa.

Holy Fucking LOL.

That's a cope even you don't believe in.

Here's your data right from Pee Plus itself:

If you want to see what 'actual' fans think of the show, read the review threads on this site and the poll numbers.
43% on Rottentomatoes:

4.2 on IMDB.

The data is right in front of you. Ignore it if you want. Truth is the truth.

An unavailable youtube video...might explain its viewcount don't you think?
It was the link to the first episode Paramount themselves uploaded for free.
Also why would someone paying for paramount already watch this?
Nobody paying for Paramount is watching it either:
Considering they released 2 episodes anyone wanting to watch it would go to where they are both available. Lessens viewership right there again.
Man...
Also being a youtube video is not its primary platform this is not a youtube webseries, there's probably a chunk of people who don't even know it got a youtube release.
Good Lord in Heaven..
And the comments and downvotes are not from anyone worth wasting oxygen on and I can comfortably say that without even being able to see them.
And they prolly feel the same way about you.

The data is right in front of you. Ignore it if you want. Truth is the truth.
Review bombed websites aren't the truth. Look at the episode poll numbers on this very site for proof of how the average Star Trek fan likes the show so far.

That's a cope even you don't believe in.
Just ask anyone on this site not from the USA who tried to watch it. It was region locked.

It's showing as #2 Trending and #1 most watched on Paramount+ here

"Anything I don't like is a review bomb!"
By that logic there should be enough fans that'd even out the negative reviews isn't it?
But there isn't because nobody cares anymore.
Look at the episode poll numbers on this very site for proof of how the average Star Trek fan likes the show.
This very website whose active userbase dwarves all the other websites I listed? Right.
Just ask anyone on this site not from the USA. It was region locked.
By your own estimates there aren't enough fans in USA to even get a million views for free?
It's showing as #2 on Paramount+ here
Where?
