I don’t understand what the obsession is with wanting Kurtzman to have nothing to do with it.
Same obsession with Berman having nothing to do with DS9.

You’re goddamn delusionalKurtzman there. There's a reason matalss is no longer there. He made the most popular seaskn of trek. When kurtzman got back from his failed Clarice series he didnt back matalas like he should have. Instead of legacy we got the terrible academy. I am so glad matalas got a tos Connie in there.
Which is equally ridiculous, yes. There’s a lot to criticize over how Rick Berman handled some elements of Trek during his tenure, but at the same time he was still the guy at the top calling the shots, being responsible for some of the most classic episodes of Trek ever produced. Some people are just able to view this stuff in black and white.Same obsession with Berman having nothing to do with DS9.
Because it was. It used the same story tropes from Picard Season 1 and Discovery. It felt like a copy/paste of Star Trek.
I totally understand the frustration, but I will have to insist that people don’t resort to personal attacks like this one. Don't do it again. You’re goddamn delusional
Executive Producer is just a fancy title they give people to bump their pay grade or make them feel important.I’m confused. Wasn’t Alex Kurtzman an executive producer on all three seasons of Star Trek: Picard? How could anything be “slipped in right under his nose”?![]()
Kurtzman had almost no input in Lower Decks or Prodigy.Just like Lower Decks was Mike McMahon’s vision.
Just like Prodigy was the Hageman brothers’ vision.
Just like SNW is the vision of Akiva Goldman and Henry Alonso Myers.
All with Kurtzman’s oversight.
Just like Matalas and Picard season 3.
And you evidence for this is…?Kurtzman had almost no input in Lower Decks or Prodigy.
He’s also the head of Star Trek on TV, so everything goes through him first.Executive Producer is just a fancy title they give people to bump their pay grade or make them feel important.

“This is the song that never ends…”I think there’s some serious misunderstanding as to how television production works.
In the TrekBBS? Nooooooo. Can't be.I think there’s some serious misunderstanding as to how television production works.

Not in my good, Christian message board! In the TrekBBS? Nooooooo. Can't be.![]()
Remember, Kurtzman's the same guy who continues to work on Star Trek despite having been fired a dozen times already.Clarice AIRED in February - June 2021.
Picard Season 3 was in production from September 2021 - March 2022.
So, Kurtzman was working on a canceled show during production of a show that he was EP on that had massive changes occuring? As always, a little bit of research goes a very long way.

Some of those writers are also on Academy, to bring it back around to the topic of the thread. The writing credits show it was written by the same people as the first two seasons (Matalas also being credited as a writer on S2).
