Eye colours and that they forgot they can read minds. Only hybrids are empathic. Most are telepathic

Maybe over the following 800 years, so many non-locals moved to Betazed they lost their telepathic powers, along with their black irises?

Yes I did and the second episode was horrible.
I'll say what a lot are saying on Reddit - "To Boldly Go Where No One Asked You To"
Cringe AF writing.

Im halfway through. Caleb is worse than Wesley ever was. What a jerk. I just don't like his character.
In the case of his daughter, it was explicitly explained.

In the case of others... perhaps their culture now demands observances of external communication?

Perhaps it's even related to their wall?

Personally, I find the layers interesting, whatever their reasons.
Maybe the president is both deaf and not telepathic. It would probably be considered a disability on Betazed.

It's funny they never explained what was going on. Is his deafness the cause of him not being able to read minds?

Even the TNG Style Klingon Cadet has irises that don't look like most other Klingons' and more like the ones in Seasons 1 and 2 of DSC.

You know the worst thing about this story?

The same plot could have taken place open seas in the 1600s.

Imagine it as British Fleet vs Privateers. You'd barely need any changes.

This not a sci-fi show, it's just in a sci-fi setting.
I mean you do know that Roddenberry described TOS as 'Wagon train to the stars'. TOS was a western masquerading as a sci-fi show.

Im thinking a deaf betazed is also meaning no telepathic powers. That would be full deafness for a betazed.Possibly. That or he was not using his telepathy.
Yeah or you know because the actor is deaf they had the other actors use sign language to communicate with him. It's no different to all the times Deanna verbally spoke to her mother or betazoids like Tam Elbrun instead of using telepathy.

Regardless, there are several variations within species. Unless we are to question Klingons in TMP, Romulans in TNG, and Trill? :vulcan:

What im saying is a betazed who is deaf and has no telepathy or lost it compensates for the lack. Hes developed great skills in reading people grom their expressions. He knew what the Admiral was going to ask next without reading his mind.

1. Lon Suder from Voyager was a Betazoid with no telepathic powers. How they treated him, his persecution, the abuse, turned this otherwise normal person into a murdering sociopath ejected from quaint society.

2. Riva from "TNG Loud as a Whisper" after his telepathic chorus was assassinated, taught sign language to mediate a bitter conflict between aggressive factions.

3. If the Daughter had to have her telepathy suppressed, then the same is probably true for her parents and children. What's with Dad taking that broach off his neck at the end? Was that also an inhibitor?

4. Full Betazoids can read minds well enough, but they can only broadcast their thoughts, think talk, into the minds of other full Betazoids, other telepathic species, or mundanes they have established a rapport with, like an Imzadi.

5. Equality concessions, behind the wall, the other Mundanes, non betazoid aliens, may not like having telepathic overlords, so either natural born gimps, or betazoids willing to accept the constant application of a handicap (This was a farce explored by Kurt Vonnegut) can achieve high office, to create equality.

6. Behind the wall, there's a lack of fresh stock. Inbreeding is unavoidable as billions of hopeless romantics are looking for billions of life partners to breed with, who are not their cousins. The potency of their telepathy turning into empathy is also unavoidable.

what a episode 2 lol

i wonder if caleb is gonna date tar mia on the show

althought i have this feeling that genesis is jellous of her even thought genesis most likely also likes calebs roommate da rem

after tar mia brother joined starfleet and became da rem and caleb roommates i wonder if tar mia did really join that other school called war collage after caleb asked her brother if she is at starfleet academy too

Hold on... how was Lon Suder persecuted and abused? He always had uncontrollable violent impulses and he went through various methods to control them that never worked.

I'm extrapolating from Spock's childhood.

Besides if he is a psychopath, then he has no emotions, so to any children he's being taught beside, Little Lon Suder will seem like he is a dead person, which must be spooky as phuck.

Always loved that voyager episode. Someone is murdered and it guest stars the guy who is well known for voicing Chucky. I wonder who did it? :)
