I don't know why it matters. How many different versions have we watched of Star Wars over the years? More than that, why do I want to watch the film cut that out Lucas in the hospital?!?I don't consider myself enough of an expert to discern the differences between the various audio sources, but I'd like them to pick the best version from 1977 and remaster it.

I don't mind the preservation but I'm not a person to get the obsessiveness over it. I like the versions I have and the more I study the original film the more the shine comes off and I appreciate Lucas tinkering more. I don't necessarily want the Special Editions but I don't want the 77 one either.Honestly? I don’t know your personal reason but mine is because the 1977 release of Star Wars is historical. It was the first work of ILM, it won Academy Awards. The version now might be as close to what GL wants as he can get and that’s fine. But the original version, in fact all of the versions, should be available. It’s called film preservation. Not everyone will agree with this and that’s fine as well.
Because that means it's good?More than that, why do I want to watch the film cut that out Lucas in the hospital?!?
I guess...Because that means it's good?

Ha!If anything they should be showing the THX remastered version for the 30th anniversary this year, complete with Leonard Maltin interview.
That was a quality set (and box set) back in the day.
Swift and bold. Your medal's in the mail.

It's about preserving the original release version of the film that was responsible for redefining American and even world cinema and revolutionizing visual effects.I don't mind the preservation but I'm not a person to get the obsessiveness over it. But, I guess it makes sense for people to have access. I just don't see the pressing desire as others express in this thread.
Then send it to a museum. DVDs and VHS still exist that people can watch. It's about preserving the original release version of the film that was responsible for redefining American and even world cinema and revolutionizing visual effects.
Same as the multi-decade efforts to preserve and restore Fritz Lang's Metropolis, or Abel Gance's Napoleon, and so on. History isn't meant to be swept away in the pursuit of unattainable perfection.
What a callous way to brush off the point of film restoration. Then send it to a museum.
Yes.What a callous way to brush off the point of film restoration.
Then I'm not gonna bother getting into a discussion on this with you. Not worth my time.Yes.
I don't get it. Sorry. I'm not in to film restoration and the only argument I see is the call for 4k.
Have a great dayThen I'm not gonna bother getting into a discussion on this with you. Not worth my time.
