Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

I don't consider myself enough of an expert to discern the differences between the various audio sources, but I'd like them to pick the best version from 1977 and remaster it.

I don't know why it matters. How many different versions have we watched of Star Wars over the years? More than that, why do I want to watch the film cut that out Lucas in the hospital?!?

Honestly? I don’t know your personal reason but mine is because the 1977 release of Star Wars is historical. It was the first work of ILM, it won Academy Awards. The version now might be as close to what GL wants as he can get and that’s fine. But the original version, in fact all of the versions, should be available. It’s called film preservation. Not everyone will agree with this and that’s fine as well.

I don't mind the preservation but I'm not a person to get the obsessiveness over it. I like the versions I have and the more I study the original film the more the shine comes off and I appreciate Lucas tinkering more. I don't necessarily want the Special Editions but I don't want the 77 one either.

But, I guess it makes sense for people to have access. I just don't see the pressing desire as others express in this thread.

If anything they should be showing the THX remastered version for the 30th anniversary this year, complete with Leonard Maltin interview.

Ha! :) That was a quality set (and box set) back in the day.

30th anniversary? That must be some mistake, surely... it was only just a few years ago... ;)
