Hi. I'm study2400 or Brent Sohlden888"study3600" aka Ben-Ach

I really like the Episode Hide and Q and loved its ending, how all the crew from Wesley to Geordi rejected the evil gifts of Q because as Geordi put it, "of who I'd have to thank".

It sure ended better than TOS S1X2: about the man who got powers and became so powerful he became monster. I suspect also that Charlie X was a visitor from the Q Continuum. (Similar powers).

I really like Picard and Data, and the Borg and Guinan and LaForge and Patrick Stewart as an actor generally.

I watch TNG on Paramount + and love how the Picard Series successfully (at least in my opinion) continues the TNG and DS9 Series, taking Star Trek to almost comparitavely Andor-like levels (at least in some episodes, not all, I hear.)

I have not seen all of TNG, DS9 or Picard (or even all of TOS) and just watched the TOS Episode Miri for the very first time on Paramount +. I own a lot of Star Wars, Star Trek DVD's and Blu-Rays, and two Star Wars 4K Ultradiscs that I have no machine can play them - fortunately I can watch those Episodes on Disney +.

Blows my mind this topic is 20 y.o., this is fantastic
I am currently playing ST TNG era Captain's Log. I've been re watching ass seven seasons of TNG, all movies, Picard series and Behind the Scenes throughout whole winter, not I'm writing my own episodes with dices.
I adore whole TNG crew, especially Picard, Riker and Data. But I have a special place in my heart for Barkley.

I love Barclay, though I love all the characters and they have their moments I think he brought some much needed grounding.

A really awesome fanvid with Queen - wait, the song makes sense. It's done really well. I do prefer this users old one to this one, though, it's still good.

Heya, I'm Uncle Sock, and I have been a lifelong fan of Star Trek. TNG started it all for me, and I consider myself lucky that I got to become a fan when TNG was current. I believe I started watching TNG first in 1991 on an old black-and-white TV that my parents gave me because I was sick in bed. "Q Who" was on (a rerun, of course), and I was hooked.

My favorite episode of TNG of all time is "Lessons". I keep telling everyone that this episode is the essence of Star Trek. It's about the characters first, and then the sci-fi. It has drama without being melodramatic, the characters treat each other with kindness and respect (just look at everyone's positive reaction when they learn that Picard has a thing for someone on the ship that's not Beverly), etc. etc. In fact, I have watched Lessons so often that I can almost quote it line by line. It's also my comfort episode; whenever I'm in need of something cozy and something to get me all the warm fuzzies, I watch Lessons. I love that Star Trek has "quiet episodes" like this one.

Yes. There are much bigger and much more successful episodes (I'm looking at you, Locutus-two-parter!), and although I really love those, too, Lessons will always have a special place in my heart.

Welcome! TNG is my favorite, too, though I love DS9 and VOY, too. Oddly enough, the episode that hooked me was "Arsenal of Freedom".

We don't tend to have much pinned in this forum, so I think that we can get away with having one of these introductory threads. If you're a regular poster or visitor here, or a recently arrived newbie, then take a moment to post in here, and give us a few words telling us which characters/actors and aspects of TNG are your favourites to discuss. :)

I will start us off ... I like to think of myself as fairly flexible in my TNG viewing, but have come to have a slight preference for the more character driven stories in recent years. I also like finding good qualities in some of the more often critisised episodes ("Justice", "Shades Of Gray", "Sub Rosa" etc ...).

While I consider Picard and Data to be the best written characters, Riker is nonetheless my favourite, with Q my favourite guest star.

I like to amuse myself by disturbing people with Picard/Q pictures like this one. :p

Anyone else?
chat I need help I js joined this website can someone pls tell me how I change my profile picture TT

Hello everyone! I'm Stephanie and I'm 42 years old in the US. I was a child when TNG first aired, and my dad was a big fan. It felt like it was constantly on in the background, but it seemed too "adult and beige" to interest me at that age. I've had a friendly, casual relationship with Trek since then, but recently decided to do straight watches through the series.

I'm nearing the end of TOS and in season 4 of TNG, and it's been so much fun. I'm watching on Blu-rays, and I'm looking forward to checking out the commentaries on TNG once I finish the series. This year especially, the themes of Trek are genuinely giving me some much-needed gas to not give up hope on society. The interesting plots, alien races, and the sense of humor and camaraderie... I'm very happy I got a bee in my bonnet to finally sit down and watch everything!

I'm also looking forward to rewatching the movies after actually knowing the shows!

Hello everyone! I'm Stephanie and I'm 42 years old in the US.
Well hello to you. I’m 79 YO Bill, also from the US and watched the premier of TOS in 1966 while doing my engineering homework. I have literally seen every nanosecond of Trek and am thoroughly enjoying Strange New Worlds. IMO, ALL Trek is good Trek. Enjoy the site and don’t be shy.

Hello everyone. Yes, TNG was my Trek, I remember seeing a couple of episodes when I was a small boy.

As much as I like the Classic Original Series and Lower Decks, The Next Generation will always be my Trek. Confession: I haven't seen the whole series, but a handful of the first season, close to all the second, the third the same amount, and a handful of the fourth, and maybe one or two from Seasons 5-7.

I applaud all who worked on this and especially all the cast whom I have come to love their characters and their adventures

MIRITA SIRTIS

May these names, along with the others be remembered by all Trek fans young and old.

It's always nice to read good things about Hide & Q (aka "H&Q" henceforth) as most people focus on the clunker bits (for which they have a point, but overlooking some good stuff in the process.). And "Where No Man Has Gone Before" as Riker does a hand wave much like Gary Mitchell's from that pilot story. It's a very subtle nod,(possibly unintentional?). The trope of "give a human godlike powers and see how much fun they have with it" is not new, but H&Q does take the trope in a new direction that TOS never had. And that's how to move forward, not "The Naked Now" that inanely regurgitates the old plot's superficial elements, but to do something new and to try to make it one's own. I know H&Q gets some flak, but I had and still do have a soft spot for it.

With a whole universe to explore and the universe is a large place, and while part of me also likes to think they're potentially related, part of me doesn't want everything to be stitched together either. How large would the Q truly be? Answering it would not make it feel any better for some, some mysterious critters in the galaxy are bound to exist and Q was one of them... and would there be but one? Plus, I love the mystery behind Q..

I really like Picard and Data, and the Borg and Guinan and LaForge and Patrick Stewart as an actor generally.

+1

Add in (don't click if you've not seen season 5 yet) Ro, whom Guinan is quick to shoehorn her life into and makes for one of the more refreshing elements of the second half of TNG's run.

I watch TNG on Paramount + and love how the Picard Series successfully (at least in my opinion) continues the TNG and DS9 Series, taking Star Trek to almost comparitavely Andor-like levels (at least in some episodes, not all, I hear.)

I hope you post reviews and reactions to these episodes! (I'm heading over to the TOS forum (https://www.trekbbs.com/forums/star-trek-the-original-animated-series.38/) in a moment to see if you'd posted on Miri already?)
