I thought Shatner portrayed Lester well. She was a nutjob, and he played it right.Shatner as Lester, no so much.
Nah, his acting is too mid-1900s. SNW cast feel like real people.Shatner was perfect casting. No one has come close to his performance.
Subjective vs objective, Wesley's reception of the character has been meh to mixed this is an objective opinion though it is brought up a lot. i think the yahoo review of the finale once said snw kirk and spock have no chemistry but puts more criticism on wesley's casting. it is sort of like a bad kiss in trek lore to say kirk and spock have no chemistry.Shatner MADE Kirk. While Pine is a good actor, I wasn't as keen on his Kirk but I blame that on the way he was written, not the acting.
Wesley's doing well thus far.
You keep talking as if Pine, Quinto, and Saldana are held in especially high regard. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fine, but I’ve never seen the level of devotion you seem to suggest. If anything, I often see criticism of Pine for essentially playing a stereotypical version of Kirk, the cowboy action hero with a phaser in one hand and a woman in the other. Many people seem to think that’s who Kirk was, but those who love The Original Series know that isn’t true.Subjective vs objective, Wesley's reception of the character has been meh to mixed this is an objective opinion though it is brought up a lot. i think the yahoo review of the finale once said snw kirk and spock have no chemistry but puts more criticism on wesley's casting. it is sort of like a bad kiss in trek lore to say kirk and spock have no chemistry.
Shatner made kirk because like pine they both have swag and screen presence. Wesley lacks this so he is not doing as good as kirk should be. Wesley is sort of forgertable in the role. You can do or cant do without him.
You can't do without shatner in tos. He is kirk. As of now if Wesley gets replaced I think some will go along and be secretly happy. If they make a trek 4 without pine folks will get rightfully mad.
The reality is in this new millennial we have already had a stronger cast of actors play the main 3 characters with quinto saladana pine.
I think the kelvin guys did try to make them like their tos versions. Snw just wanted their names but never cared too deeply about tos. Hope they do well with their McCoy since so far snw has yet to find actors way better than their tos or aos counterparts not even their Scotty.
A common agreement i agree with snw is everyone there could have been new characters and nothing will change heck it would have been better. We are after all are been forced to accept spock is doing a khan even though we know it is objectively ridiculous and lame and not even the kelvin guys would have dared take things that far.
Doesn't this go in the 'controversial opinions' discussion?Shatner was poor casting to begin with. Each Kirk actor since has been an improvement.
Same and I say that as someone who thoroughly enjoys the Kelvin films and have 2009 as my favorite Trek film. But Pine was not well regarded as Kirk, considered unserious, a "frat boy", and an idiot who could never be as intelligent or reflective as Shatner. You keep talking as if Pine, Quinto, and Saldana are held in especially high regard. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fine, but I’ve never seen the level of devotion you seem to suggest. Yes, Kirk had a few romantic moments and could be a bit of a flirt, but he wasn’t drunkenly hitting on women, sleeping with Orions, or having threesomes with “cat babes.” He was an extremely intelligent man, a chess master, and a cunning tactician. At the Academy, he was even described as a “walking stack of books with legs.” While he could certainly be a man of action when necessary, he was also deeply thoughtful about the consequences of his choices.
Paul Wesley plays Kirk much closer to the version we know from TOS than Pine ever did. Not that Pine should play him like the TOS Kirk, since his interpretation is clearly meant to be an alternate version of the character shaped by a completely different history.
Quinto does a decent enough job as Spock, though he never quite captures the quiet depth or emotional precision of Nimoy’s performance. As for Saldana, she doesn’t remind me of Uhura in the slightest. She could be playing an entirely different character, and I wouldn’t notice. This contrasts sharply with Uhura in Strange New Worlds, who feels youthful and still developing into the person she’ll eventually become, while thankfully enjoying far more characterization than 1960s television could allow.
So yes, opinions are subjective, but I really don’t understand the level of devotion you seem to have for Pine, Quinto, and Saldana. That’s just me.

. this is how foregetbale uhura/beto are and as bad as spock/chapel were, they were a hot mess in a way. a train wreck some could still not take their eyes from. Uhura/Beto.... we forgot it happened. uhura/beto are the adira/gray of SNW.
Demanded?????Most used or demanded female characters in SNW
Jake from X-Files?
Or Mulder, even.i think he meant molder

I really don't think you understand the meaning of the word "factual."Opinions are subjective true but there is indeed evidence why people have opinions.
objectively Saldana Uhura is far closer to Nichelle just even for the fact she is the same age as Quinto as Pine and Saldana was presented very differently to Celia but Similar to Nichols. That makes her objectively closer to Nichols. Also with Nichelle Uhura was the most romantically coded girl in TOS to pair potentially with the big two leads. Kirk or Spock. SNW Uhura is not written here to be paired with Kirk or Spock. Saldana was in an alternate timeline.in fact with both. kirk and spock.
Here is a factual evidence that debunks your argument. Kirk and Uhura had an important kiss that changed tv history and they had a very nice tender scene in mirror mirror that could show a love affair. SNW cannot interpret that here because of the massive age gap of Wesley and Celia. Which is why I do not even think they will ever pair her with Kirk or Spock in SNW even though by TOS POV Spock/Uhura had more romantic potential than Spock/Chapel or Spock/Khan relative.
if you think uhura been this young and youthful is the case then you have not watched TOS. Uhura was not young or youthful she was already a grown ass woman and an equal to the guys. Chekov is the young and youthful not Uhura. So Saldana takes this win.
Uhura in TOS had amazing chemistry with Kirk and Spock which gave the character more prominence. Their was indeed enough flirty dynamic to pair either Kirk/Uhura or Spock/Uhura as a potential couple. Kelvin Trek just made one canon and made it convincing compared to even Uhura/Beto in SNW.
I do not think SNW can interpret that here based on the potential of what TOS gave us. Kelvin trek was able to do it and having Saldana in the role made the difference. Saldana just has that it factor and works well with all her leading male co stars that is why she is a huge movie star.
TOS Uhura was also the memorable girl that is why she rose to prominence and Chapel and Janice Rand faded by the movies. SNW Uhura is not interpreting this either. in fact in the reviews of season 3 some critic said Uhura does nothing on the show. she is not as prominent as Chapel and Laan and I think the age is a factor and also the other actress have stronger screen presence and charisma so they give them more focus.
Uhura is the weakest female character of the show by story lines like Pike is the weakest male character on the show, Uhura did not even get any focused episode in season 3 even Ortega got one in episode 9. to say TOS and SNW Uhura are similar is just re-writing history. TOS Uhura and Saldana worked very well as the leading females. SNW Uhura cannot work as a lead female here. that honours goes to Chapel or Laan. Although it should be Una but she too is fading.
So no I do not agree that SNW Uhura is similar to TOS Uhura. her age alone disqualifes her. Uhura is more like as intended, a Wesley or Sato or Adira and those characters them been the youngest one can easily just get lost in the shuffle as with most young characters because they are not equals to the rest.
This reviews sums it up of how Uhura works on the show.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds lost sight of its greatest strength
Season 3 started strong but failed to deliver satisfying character arcs or plotswww.polygon.com
''but her season 3 romantic plot is purely played for laughs and stunt casting as she pines for a Vulcan named Doug played by Patton Oswalt. Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) also had very little to do this season beyond a dull romance with Ortegas’ brother.''
I read all the tv reviews of the show and they all say Uhura and Una are underused while Chapel get so much focus. yikes even Grok A.I is saying this.
Also SNW has crappy romance but even Uhura romance with Beto is the most forgettable and least talked about. Chapel/Spock, Pike/Batal and Laan/Spock even beat snw uhura romances in SNW. Saldana/Quinto at least got a lot talk even in mainstream media in 2009 to the point the simpson did a parody of the spock/uhura romance.
If you have never seen any trek content and just watch SNW you would think Chapel or Laan was the intended lead and Uhura more supporting when this is not the truth of TOS. I will not go for quinto here as there is a thread that this was here
Spock
In relation, it's (at least to me) unrealistic to put SOPRANOS with the older-and-slightly-superior OZ. Totally fair.www.trekbbs.com
As for Paul I buy all the intended good will. they need it but if year one does happen and he is re-cast people should not be surprised.Again there are opinions but some things are just the way they are based on what we see.
I do not think critics or fans are just saying uhura and una are underused or forgettable while chapel/laan are the favourites for writers and Ortega just feels like an outliner but still works and get a focused episode.
Skully is going to be jealous.i think he meant molder

And here I thought I couldn't take you less seriously.Even GROK A.I is saying this.
