I'll vote for "Unforgettable" to start the next round - probably one of the most ironically named episodes of all time, but the concept is quite a striking one, even if absolutely everything about the execution is dull.

Given that the showrunners couldn't even ration out 38 torpedoes or figure out that an ensign is supposed to make lieutenant, it's no surprise that some of the show's episodes were trash. Maybe it's amazing that as many of them were good as there were.

I’m surprised Natural Law made it all the way here, frankly - if I’m remembering it correctly (I’m probably not)! But I absolutely do remember The Fight, which I remember as very bad, while I’m never able to remember Unforgettable - which is itself ironic.

My final vote is for "UNFORGETTABLE". Along with my reasons before, "THE FIGHT" was simply a bad episode. (Chaotic Space was a great idea, and it certainly would explain a lot of the ships that disappeared over the centuries. But the execution was just terrible.)

Abstaining. I stopped watching Unforgettable midway... and I heard how bad The Fight was and just didn't go there. And I don't feel bereft.

Honestly, neither of these are offensively bad, they're just both extraordinarily boring.

Chakotay heavy episodes require a strong co-star to lift the episode up or a b-plot that has nothing to do with him.

Unforgettable does not really provide a strong distraction or guest star. However The Fight is so indulgent in an actor that very clearly doesn't want to be there and poorly utilises Boothby in its laser focus on Chakotay bringing the episode down.

They really should have let Robert Beltran out of his contract and killed him off quite some time before this, he only wanted to be there because of Genevieve Bujold and so was already coming in with a chip on his shoulder and things just went downhill from there.

These are two very deserving finalists and The Fight very much deserves to win. Only Beltran can make a big sweaty man in a boxing ring boring to look at.

It's an interesting idea that the reason these episodes collapse is because of Beltran. I'd never considered it before - I find Beltran's performance very bland, but not awful in a way that distracts from the show - and yet, now that you mention it, I bet if "Unforgettable" was a Paris or Tuvok episode, and "The Fight" was a Seven episode, they definitely would wind up being a lot more watchable just on the performances alone.
