The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Time to do a movie about the Titanic's sister ship the HMHS Britannic. Sank in 1916 after hitting a mine in WW I. Then you finish the trilogy by telling the story of the Olympic.

That's what I've been saying for the past two pages.

Yerp, my phone auto corrected to that and I didn't catch it.. I fixed it. I even researched it a little before I posted. Don'tcha luv AI?

That's cause AI always knows best! ;)

I feel like Jim Carrey's an odd choice for this one. I feel like Wiliam H. Macy has a much better likeness to George. And they should absolutely cast Danny Devito as Mr Spacely.

^Huh? It predates the 1990's by 3 decades. It came out in the 1960's. So much of what inspired The Jetsons was the 60's outlook on the future. I assume you mean the animated movie rather than the TV series.

Yes, I did mean the animated film from 1990.

I figured. I do wonder what took so long for them to make a live-action movie though. I always preferred The Jetsons to the Flinstones.

"Back in my day we DROVE our cars on the ground, and we liked it!"

Or Back in my Day, we literally ran our cars with our feet... They were so sore by the end of the day that there was nothing we could Yabba Dabba Do about it!

Yarggh, take that clouds! :D

We did have a car in the 80's that we had used so much that the salt during the winter had caused the underneath to corrode and fall apart and near the end of its life you could see the pavement underneath as you drove. Wouldn't pass inspection these days.

Jim Carrey seems to old for the role. I wonder if they are going to do something were the kids are now adults and the adults are older. Maybe focus on Elroy going to high school. Meanwhile Judy is a movie star who has come home for a visit. George is retired and bored. Jane is famous because of a blog. Mr Spacely was fired and is living with them because he has lost all his money. Astro lounges around like a old dog likes to do. Rosey has replaced her robot looking body for one that looks human.

Not just too old, but he doesn't particularly strike me as a good fit for the father figure. I think it needs to be a younger actor in his mid 40's who would believable as someone with a young family. Maybe someone like Colin Hanks, who seems to be looking more and more like his father the older he gets. He strikes me as a much better fit than Jim Carrey.

This isn't related to the topic, but I still have a question: In a time when Hollywood actors are chosen based on their Instagram followers, I'm curious how someone like Rachel Zegler, who only has 2.5 million Instagram subscribers and every movie she stars in flops at the box office, continues to land major roles. The same goes for Ariana Greenblatt and Colman Domingo.

Smooth skin and a nice voice can get you far. IMO it was she who deserved and Oscar win for WEST SIDE STORY. She blew Natalie Wood out of the water.* That film was a loss in proportion to cost, but that too may have been a side-result of the pandemic.

(* No offense intended.)

Has been nominated for two Tony Awards, two Academy Awards and won an Emmy for best actor in a supporting role in the last seven years.
Not bad for someone who's films are supposedly flops.
My curiosity was due to the low number of Instagram followers. I got the answer to my question.
