Master Replicas announced two new Stargate models: Asuran Cruiser and improved USS Prometheus X–303.
Thank you, that’s a good list of SG ships and puts the Asuran cruiser into perspective. It was from a time after I had stopped seeing SGA. Based on the Stargate wiki, I’m surprised MR is producing the Asuran cruiser before the Aurora class. The Asuran cruiser is an... interesting choice. I like it, but I can think of at least 30 ships that are more important.
The Prometheus doesn't look significantly better than before to me. Instead of making it "rusty", they should have taken a look at the greebles of the […] – even without making entirely new molds, they could have printed them. The blue engine glow looks nice, but I already added that to mine.
It might be simply in terms of what they have ready assets for. I don't know how many physical models were ever built for Stargate, but I have a feeling it wasn't many, so it could be the old 'the digital assets are in a format that no longer exists on a hard drive in a PC in a warehouse' problem with getting models for anything but the main ships.
I could head canon that. I definitely like the idea of a smallish scout ship as an intermediate between shuttles/runabouts and proper starships.I wonder now if the SS Ariel from TAS: "The Aye of the Beholder" was a Gral-class starship, with its crew of only six.
I'd assume sometime after the subscribers get theirs, which hasn't happened yet and I'd bet is still months away.Anybody knows when the corrected print “EXCELSIOR” will be available on the Fanhome website for standalone purchase?
Like i said, it's a kind of a mix, hopefully the non prototype will be more SNW and less DIS.though the dark colouring from the DSC version is still there.
Yeah, I still think Eaglemoss should have stuck with the original size with the occasional larger one, but I suspect going up to the midsize had better margins: they cost 2x for being 50% larger, the Styrofoam inserts were probably cheaper than the blow-molded ones, plus they didn't have to deal with the additional logistics of having the magazines/inserts being seperate.I wish the models were smaller. Easier to collect and store.
I think the problem is, the design of a Classic Enterprise peaked with the TMP refit and the design of a Modern Enterprise peaked with the Enterprise–E. You can design new Classic and Modern versions but you cannot top the top.I've said it before in various ways, and I'll say it again: God, the Enterprise ships got ugly with the F and never recovered!
