It sounds like your headcanon and my headcanon would be friends. This whole discussion is why 'head-canon' is so important. Decide for yourself what is canon and what isn't, and ignore everyone else's loud jabbering. Life is much more pleasant that way.
My personal canon includes materials from some (but not all) Trek books and publications, some from the old FASA Trek game, John Ford Klingons, Diane Duane Romulans, and so on. SNW is a parallel timeline to 1960's TOS. My canon is mine, and I'm perfectly happy with it, and everyone else can run with whatever they want their 'canon' to be. This is about the only case in existence of my being okay with any sort of non-objective 'truth.'
Very, very weird, but Xev/Zev helped to keep me interested. It's weird, with very high highs and jaw dropping lows, but it should be seen.
Arguably, Kai was the heart of the show.Very, very weird, but Xev/Zev helped to keep me interested.
This one is in engineering (visible on OTOY)I believe it is as close as we have come to having an MSD of the SNW Enterprise.
I mean that would be more common by the time of Lower Decks. However given Patton Oswalt's look of circa 60 and the slower aging of Vulcans, Doug probably was born around the time of Enterprise. And we didn't see a lot of Vulcans who were fans of humans in Enterprise honestly.I realised that the whole thing with Doug and his parents obsession with human names has sort of explained why Jennifer the Andorian has a human name.
We often borrow names from other cultures when naming children. Makes sense that in a multi-cultural galactic society it would also happen.I realised that the whole thing with Doug and his parents obsession with human names has sort of explained why Jennifer the Andorian has a human name.
Have we had any examples of it before Lower Decks introduced us to Jennifer the Andorian and Taylor the Kzinti? We often borrow names from other cultures when naming children. Makes sense that in a multi-cultural galactic society it would also happen.
I can't think of any. But the population of the Federation is probably in the high billions, so its much more likely than what the franchise shows us. Then you have names that have parallels on Earth: Chang, Kang, Kira, Odo, Nerys, Dax, Marta...Have we had any examples of it before Lower Decks introduced us to Jennifer the Andorian and Taylor the Kzinti?
Aside from maybe the odd person directly named after an alien like Leonard James Akaar I can't think of the galactic society really cross-pollinating in such a way.
Cute, but the episode states that his parents named him "Doug."Well, you guys know why he calls himself 'Doug'...all Vulcans have an unpronounceable name.
"You never told me if you had another name, Mr Spock?"
"You couldn't pronounce it."
Still doesn't stop it from being sillier.
Being a serious episode doesn't stop a concept from being stupid.
Stupid premise, serious story. So The Enemy Within was serious, or stupid? Which was it?
