I did see someone elsewhere who argued that perhaps the discrepancy between the Gorn in TOS and what we see in SNW is because all the Gorn we've met have been processed by Vezda. As part of the process of merging Batel's human and Gorn DNA, they've somehow created an uninfected Gorn mind hiding within her, which will help to eventually "liberate" them.

Seems a bit farfetched to me. I do like the idea though that as bad as the SNW Gorn have been, there are demonstrably worse things out there.
In the TrekCore review they said they thought the way Batel shuffled reminded them of the TOS gorn.

Was very good,
Lost Dana, which wasn't good.. I liked him, and him poping up in previous episodes being rah rah nurse was a better build up and emotional attachment than what they did in Disco with the robot lady. You felt his death.. He's brain dead.. F$&#& noo!

Okay, a Grivance.. Where the hell is PIKE! He is the star of the show, yet over the past 4 episodes he's been sidelined by the other characters. I mainly watch it for Anson, I know he has a small kid ( 2 now) but I miss him being the lead!
And every time we do see him, he's mooning over Batel and getting all teary-eyed.

I'll admit, I've reached the point where the cast alone is holding me to this show. It seems to have lost its way, but I like the characters and the actors.

Something I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that the creature Spock saw during the mind meld with Batel and the one he saw in the well was the same. I thought something looked weird about the mind meld creature, but it wasn't until I watched episode 5 that the dots connected. I went back and screenshotted them both to compare, and the CG model is the same.

The solution seems ridiculously simple. Pick a number somewhere between 10 and 22. I think a 16 episode season would make a decent compromise. (Notice that it falls right between 10 and 22 . . . :D )
17 = Perfect #.

Why you ask?

We have 52 weeks in a year, usually 1 week at the end is reserved for (New Years/Christmas programming).

That leaves 51 weeks left of the year.

51/3 = 17.

Perfect for splitting the Calender year into Trimesters.

That leaves 2 weeks for shooting a 1 hr (actual run length) TV show before passing the plates off to the VFX & Editing., you have some buffer time before you need to air the episode as well since you have 17 weeks during the actual run time.

So you really have 3 week-ish on average to go from Filming + VFX -> Editing & Compositing

If everything is operating in parallel as it should, then you would have more time to execute a higher quality 1-hr show.

That's compared to the old 26 ep format for 1 hr (45 min actual run length) show that had 26x (1 weeks of shooting and VFX work + 1 week of editing).

It's a more reasonable schedule to get more quality content done.

After the Captain Batel Gorn hybrid revelation...

TOS S1 Arena in a NEW LIGHT...

I'll buy that for a dollar!

Kind of surprised that as of today, at least on my P+ app, they still haven’t corrected the spelling of “Lens”. Surely somebody’s noticed by now? (I wondered if perhaps there’s an archaic spelling with an “e” somewhere, but haven’t turned any up.)

Paramount+ Canada is still missing a word in Lower Decks series finale title.

Clearly they are subtly hinting that this episode is setting up that the true big bad behind it all is Elizabeth Lense.

Damn good ep! Hubby and I both liked using the deflector shield to clear rubble. Poor Gamble - he broke the first rule and Touched Something Weird. The actor did a good job of going back and forth between Gamble and The Evil Thing. I freaked a little when he reached through the forcefield! I also liked how it messed with M'Benga and the Redshirt about their family members. And when it called Pelia a "Lanthanite child."

Great job with the fight between Batel and Gamble. Both moved like non-humans. Batel was swiping like she had claws.

The multi-dimensional rooms were intriguing. I'm guessing that was part of the imprisonment. I liked that La'an is the one who realized it was a prison.

Korby looking for immortality was a nice shoutout to what happens to him later.

Meh. It was ok. Still not all that gripping. 5 episodes in and this season has been a big bore. I shall give this one a 5. Would have gave it a 6 if they didn't have a miracle gro cure for burned out eyes when Geordie suffered though blindness till an adult wearing a banana hair clip on his face 100 years later ... 😏....

Well.. that is how you do it. Absolutely brilliant episode. Humor was all character based and I laughed out loud more in the pre-horror scenes than I did in the entire 20 minutes I could stomach of Space Adventure Hour. The suspense was well sustained, there were personal stakes and all of the characters were well served and on point. An absolutely terrific episode from start to finish. Easily the best of the season so far.

Gonna diverge and say, this is why I really want this to be a different "timeline" than TOS; some characters are just....well...better in this show. Chapel and Uhura in particular are just amazing to watch (even in the worst episodes) and I even like Roger Korby where in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" he is played by an exceptionally stuffy actor and paired with an mediocre actress with whom he had no chemistry (I watched it last night as a warm up). THIS version of Christine and Roger works for me, accent and all. And I would hate for this Christine to wind up as the TOS Christine, because she's such a drag in TOS by comparison.

And those of you who are familiar with me at all know that I hold TOS as the Gold Standard of Star Trek.

Anyways, I was fully invested in this episode from the first frame. This one lived up to the promise of the title of the series and felt like a first season episode - that's how much they got their groove back this week.

Gamble was a great character and M'Benga's scenes were all amazing. Babs was exceptional but everyone was bringing their A game. Even Ethan Peck and I usually don't like his take on Spock. But this felt like Spock to me.

Out on a limb here, and maybe it just caught me in a good mood, but this was the best Star Trek episode I've seen in a little while.

Home run - 10/10

Now you understand why everybody sends Robots IRL when you need to Touch Something Weird or something that goes Boom!

If the Robot goes down, nobody bats an eye, just calls it cost of doing business.

If you loose a poor Ensign like Gamble, that's a tragic loss that the family has to suffer through for the rest of their natural lives.
