British shows like Endeavour, Inspector Morse, Vera, and A Touch of Frost are down at around three or four episodes per season (a.k.a. series). Poirot was down to that level from 2000 onward.

Dr. Who sometimes got ONE episode and they called it a Season - usually a Christmas Special.

That doesn't make the answer incorrect. They Paramount have renewed SNW for a S5 consisting of 6 episodes. When they film it will be up to the Studio. Paramount OWNS the Canadian studio they film the series in. Whether or not Skydance remains a business partner in it's production doesn't matter.

If the studio wants or needs to it can make a separate deal for Season 5; and yes, if something bad happens they could change their mind and cancel it too.

But in the end, if it's filmed, it will be when Paramount says so.

What I am asking is when would be the latest they could produce the season before Kurtzman’s contract expires. If you don’t know that, your nonsequitor answer is meaningless.

Season 4 finishes filming in August, so I imagine a couple months after that.

Someone on Reddit who claimed to be on the production claimed a few days before Season 5 was officially announced, that pre-production would start a few weeks after 4 finished.
