Conversely, there are many (myself included) who think it's by far the best of the sequel trilogy and one of the best Star Wars films overall.
The point is there is no definitive or conclusive opinion on the film. In fact, I would say it's the one that divides fandom the most, for better or for worse, considering most fans have a lot of issues with The Force Awakens, The Rise of Skywalker, and Solo (which I loved, so I'm in the minority). The only other modern film that is remotely divisive is Rogue One (I take the extreme opinion of it being my second favorite...after A New Hope).
TBH this is my feeling as well. If they'd ditched the whole Leia coming back from the dead, adventure to Casino Planet and Poe Getting Uppity subplots, and stuck to the core movie, it would actually have been great. Not ESB great, but at least as good as TPM. It was just too bloated and tried to do too many things at once.I have my issues with The Last Jedi, though oddly they don't tend to be the issues that a lot of people have (basically it's too long and bloated and is trying to squeeze a film and a half's worth of plot into a single movie, but most of the narrative choices Johnson made around Luke, Rey, Kylo, Snoke etc I have no issues with. Finn and Poe on the other hand...)
