Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Conversely, there are many (myself included) who think it's by far the best of the sequel trilogy and one of the best Star Wars films overall.

The point is there is no definitive or conclusive opinion on the film. In fact, I would say it's the one that divides fandom the most, for better or for worse, considering most fans have a lot of issues with The Force Awakens, The Rise of Skywalker, and Solo (which I loved, so I'm in the minority). The only other modern film that is remotely divisive is Rogue One (I take the extreme opinion of it being my second favorite...after A New Hope).

I have my issues with The Last Jedi, though oddly they don't tend to be the issues that a lot of people have (basically it's too long and bloated and is trying to squeeze a film and a half's worth of plot into a single movie, but most of the narrative choices Johnson made around Luke, Rey, Kylo, Snoke etc I have no issues with. Finn and Poe on the other hand...)
TBH this is my feeling as well. If they'd ditched the whole Leia coming back from the dead, adventure to Casino Planet and Poe Getting Uppity subplots, and stuck to the core movie, it would actually have been great. Not ESB great, but at least as good as TPM. It was just too bloated and tried to do too many things at once.

From these numbers I'd say Last Jedi is a contender for 'most divisive', but not 'most unloved'.
If we were really to get into the nitty gritty of that rating then I'd be curious to know of those who rated it which of them were Star Wars fans and which were general audience/film fans?

Because I believe that rating really depends on where you're coming from.

In the shot where Krennic’s shuttle leaves the Death Star for his meeting with Vader, you can a Star Destroyer in a docking bay in the equatorial trench. It’s a big ol’ sucker.

One of the old tech manuals said that Tarkin felt there was no reason to intercept the two squadrons of Rebel fighters and the surface guns would take care of them soon enough, so the TIEs that were launched were the ones under Vader’s direct command and not part of the station’s regular compliment. It’s the only thing that makes sense for how they weren’t simply swarmed considering the station would have so many fighters and, apparently, at least one Destroyer.

(I remember the old Rebel Assault video game and the Death Star escorted by a Star Destroyer you had to get past.)

Vader's cockiness in not ordering more on his own now retroactively evokes his flashy hallway slaughter in Rogue that... ultimately failed at its mission in actually getting the Death Star plans back.

The one guy who absolutely would've taken the threat seriously is Orson Krennic and he would've swarmed those 30 Rebel ships with a gazillion TIEs if he were in command. We see him removed from power and then ultimately killed in Rogue One, and Vader chokes him for his audacity in asking for command of the Death Star back, but if Vader and the Emperor had sidelined Tarkin instead of Krennic, they might actually ultimately have won.

OK, so I am now watching “Rogue One”, and I am two episodes in.
I must confess to some discomfort and wincing when these characters say “May the Force be With You/Us”
Can’t quite explain it, but it sounds “wrong” not coming from my Beloved Original Characters.
Guess I am gonna have to get over that feeling…
