Michelle Yeoh and action set pieces at the expense of characterization also gives it that "made for foreign markets" vibe.

Yeah. Even though it didn't work for me, and I say this as someone who's been enjoying watching Michelle Yeoh's films (including her early ones from '80s and '90s). I'd be interested to see how this movie fairs overseas, particularly in Asia.Michelle Yeoh and action set pieces at the expense of characterization also gives it that "made for foreign markets" vibe.
Do understand I was being polite when I said "it didn't work for me". I made my thoughts about the TV Movie pretty clear in the S31 Forum. I gave it a 3 out of 10.It will perform terribly because they still care about the quality of something rather than them being from China.

Section 31 is the first Star Trek since Into Darkness that I outright disliked.
As opposed to the 2009 Film, Beyond, Lower Decks or Strange New Worlds where I'm just not into them.
Anyway, I'm still interested in how it fares because I've seen a lot of good from Asia, or on Michelle Yeoh's case Hong Kong, but I've also seen a lot of terrible things from there as well. It's a mix, just like with everywhere else.
It can be carried in places besides Paramount+. I also never said anything about Asians watching something just because an Asian is in it.Paramount+ isn't even available in China. And "Asian people" don't just watch something cause there's an Asian in it.
I want you to think about that comment.
I would find it hard to believe, in all honesty.I have a very simple question.
Do you believe in Parrot Analytics' assertion that "Star Trek: Discovery" and "Star Trek: Lower Decks" are more popular, more in "demand", than Amazon Prime Video's "Fallout" show?
Yes or No?
And "Asian people" don't just watch something cause there's an Asian in it.
Might as well go straight for the Official Trailers and get this over with.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Official Trailer - 3.7 million views.
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Official Trailer - 7.1 million views.
PIC Season 3 trailer getting twice as many views as the DSC Season 5 trailer? That doesn't surprise me. But DSC cleared well above just 100,000 views.
And I happen to be a fan of both series.
I had it playing on a loop while I wrote my fanfiction.I would find it hard to believe, in all honesty.
But then Trek fans watch, and rewatch things to death. That could account for some of those numbers.
I did something similar with Prodigy, which is probably why my day of "working from home" didn't work out so well.I had it playing on a loop while I wrote my fanfiction.

Michelle Yeoh thinks that Empress Philippa Georgiou is a role model for young Asian women and Alex Kurtzman agrees.
Alex Kurtzman and other people behind NuTrek have an odd fascination, you could say even admiration, for Space Adolf.![]()
These people are morally bankrupt.
There is no doubt in my mind -- none at all -- that Roddenberry would have hated the idea of Section 31 and would have vetoed it if it had been proposed when he had creative control. He killed the idea of a Starfleet conspiracy, for example, in season 1 of TNG and that's why we ended up with Remmick head 'splosions. He refused to let the regular Starfleet characters even have interpersonal conflicts. There is simply no way he would have approved of the philosophy that Kurtzman is advancing in that quote.
Now, in fairness, Roddenberry was often quite wrong about things. And there are many things you can point to that got better in Trek once it strayed from his strict rules. However, even though I am an enormous fan of DS9 and love what Behr and his team accomplished, I still to this day think Section 31 was a mistake. I think it was pushing things too far. I think it's fundamentally at odds with Trek's philosophy.
YMMV.
