Rather than a Section 31 sequel, I'd be okay if the next streaming movie were about Garrett in whatever her next assignment was after her time attached to Section 31 was finished.

Yeah, it's a soft no for me too. As I had zero expectations going in, Rohl was really the only disappointment for me. She is very wooden and just has no screen presence. Unfortunately, I just don't see her leading a series.

Though I admit that is based solely on one small role in an awful film, as I've never seen her in anything else.

Can’t say I’d be interested based on the premise alone. Her established fate leaves her less of a hook than even Pike’s did. And yes, Anson Mount makes it work - and yeah, Garrett’s new actress could potentially do so as well - but man, I am just not feeling it whatsoever.

That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t give it a try. I don’t care that much about the inevitability of Garrett’s destiny. Stories work when they work. She could be surrounded by a fiercely compelling crew, too. Who knows.

But, like… on paper? Oof.

Edit: Just read the Screen Rant article. …Well, it’s nice that the author likes the character so much, I suppose. Section 31 sure as hell ain’t getting a sequel, though; hopefully, they know that.

she was fine in the role. She did her best with what they gave her. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Garrett, but no reason to connect her to S31. Enterprise C prequel series with Garrett

All genre websites read like that.

I'd say some are better than others (not that you were claiming otherwise), but yeah, it's an unfortunate truth that the more in-depth fare doesn't seem to stick like glue to our ever-shifting internet algorithmic overlords.

I have a vague curiosity but to what end? What story do you want to see that is unique to her, that only she can tell? Do we want a story set on board a starship that focuses on a mid-level officer? So not the existing shows, not the lower decks... but something in between?

Do you want to know about the Enterprise C more and its crew? But if so why not just have a starship series later in the time run and not be encumbered by continuity of fitting it in before Enterprise D... and knowing her (and the Enterprise's) eventual demise.

We can all say yeah she was a cool actress or what not, but is she enough to base a show on, draw in an audience and what would that story look like?

I have long maintained that an "Un-Yesterday's Enterprised" version of the E-C's fate is the best untold story in Trek's lore and has excellent film potential.

Though maybe not a film but a short mini-series. Change things so that state between the Romulans and Klingons is a series of growing conflict and skirmishes but not yet all-out war and the Enterprise is sent in to "keep the peace." Then frame the story around logs and or personal letters of Garret, Castillo and maybe a random lower decker depicting the growing worry, fear and tension amongst the crew, sort of Band of Bros style. Bookend each episode from Federation media footage showing the lingering sentiment of "What do we care if the Rommies and turtle heads blow each other up?"

I would say 31 maybe adds an opportunity. Like say there was a mission that went totally pear shaped and had come to light and there was a big brouhaha and she's dishonorably discharged. It then starts with her out of Starfleet. She is then re-commissioned and given command of the Enterprise and sent on the mission. They whole thing is a put-on by Starfleet to make itself look good. Like "Oh well we sent our Flagship out there to save lives!" When secretly, the higher-ups fully intend for her to fail such that the Romulans and Klingons do in fact blow each other up.

This right here. We can spit out ideas for all kinds of narrowly focused show concepts but this one paragraph is all we need! Move forward...explore space with Trek trappings....this has been the most popular format for the franchise and has nearly unlimited potential but it seems almost so obvious that they won't do it.

What are the most profitable films and shows in Trek?

TWOK
First Contact

The show's held up as standard?

Deep Space Nine.

All driven by darker themes and more warlike footing.

The powers that be keep learning the wrong lessons from history of the franchise.

As much as I hated the movie and wondered why Garrett was there in the first place, I didn't have an issue with the actress who portrayed her. I think given good material to work with, she has potential. I still want a lost era type series, but Section 31 was not it.
