I'm giving the episode bonus points for putting TOS, Disco and SNW costumes in the same scene, and for rehabilitating the worst posting in Starfleet a bit.

But I'm also taking points away for a bunch of stuff I didn't like, so the points end up balancing out.

The episode was alright I thought, but it hasn't done anything to change my feeling that this season hasn't been shining as brightly as previous years. Also Starfleet really needs to assign a proper engineer to that place, as it seemed like any random officer from the Cerritos could do a better job of fixing it up.

We could do with a bit more of that, and try and end this visual schism.

It's still not firing on all cylinders and I keep thinking I'm the problem. Last week was especially meh for me.

Wow, SB-80 has really been let down by Starfleet (and as a result acquired a bad rep it seems).

Why doesn't it have replicators onboard, or any kind of molecular production facilities that would be at least 23rd century standard so the crew onboard can actually maintain and fix it themselves (which you know... would be expected for a starbase of ANY kind to have)?

I mean, I can understand the starbase relying here and there for some stuff, but there's really no reason for the station to be in the state it is.

Though I'm glad the Cerritos crew helped do some maintenance service. I was hoping for them to have full blown cleanup crews on the station's exterior and interior - or at least, using automated bots for that

I loved the episode. It had some good laughsjokes, and the overall story was great. I like how it took Starbase 80 from a one note joke and fleshed it out into something that might at least somewhat plausibly exist in the non-comedic side of Star Trek. Probably my favorite episode of the season so far.

Another fun episode.

ENTERPRISE uniforms!!! My favorite in the franchise!

Speaking of ENT, the decon chamber scene was great. Ransom was hilarious. I think he loves the gel a bit too much....

Casperia Prime gets a mention... always love DS9 callbacks!

So more people got infected with the Tarchannen virus from "Identity Crisis". And this doctor got permanently altered. Which looked really cool. (I always thought that was a well done alien.)

I love how we got a lot of visual TOS stuff... the wall comms, the colored pipes, etc.

The anaphasic lifeform was a great nod to a terrible episode... "Sub Rosa". Even used the same lightning effects for it.

Boimler's 'beard' is getting more defined.

And I got to say... Gene sure gets around REALLY fast.

I really like how Mariner got a lesson in humility here, and a good lesson for everyone. Just because some people don't have the latest gadgets doesn't mean they can't get a lot accomplished. Low tech does NOT equal low brains.

Fun times, great callbacks, and a nice message. I give this an 8.

Have we ever seen that design for a Starbase before? They said it was last updated in the 2260's, implying it was even older. It could be the oldest starbase design we've ever seen.

If it was so old that its crew were still using ENT uniforms, I’m surprised it had such a high number. One would think it should have been named Starbase 2 or something.

And just why were Cassia and Gene wearing ENT uniforms anyway? Nobody even mentioned anything about that. And the last time we saw SB80 personnel, they were all wearing unique uniforms with TNG-era commbadges, which kinda throws the whole plot about SB80 crew not using commbadges out the window.

I had the @Christopher style retcon that Cassia and Gene are actually time travelers from the ENTERPRISE era that got assigned here because the Federation didn't know what to do with them since they didn't want to be cashiered.

Would make a good tie in to the Department of Temporal Regulations.

It would also explain why Gene can't fix anything on his own.
